Great meeting you as well KC,
I do hope you've found out about local cable access now ?
I certainly wont be frazzling, thank you. I can work like a demon for short periods of time - particulalry when I know I can deep chill afterwards.
I'm now off to wallow in a lovely bubbly bath with a magazine & hot chocolate before updating my own diary
I've got all the cabley-services stuff for HH scheduled for tomorrow
Bubble bath sounds good.
And you have a diary! **KC runs off to find it **Numpty_Monkey wrote: »Well it needs somewhere to go at night:p:rotfl::eek:
Wol get them flood doors put back on the back, just incase;)
Lula, KC lovely to met you again:kisses3::kisses3:
You too Numpty :kisses3: even if the conversation was so here and there because you were so busy helping - I was a bit bad thereI bet next time you're down, I'm in HH, and I'll pop over to wave and drink tea, as long as Wol will have me
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Unofrtunately today has not been a good day.
Grommie's breathing started to deteriorate late last night and at 5am this morning it didn;t look like it was improving in response to upping his medsSo with a heavy heart, I booked him in to see specialist Vulture vet this lunchtime (Nice Italian vet is on holiday) fully expecting to have to make a very horrible decision when I got there_pale__pale_
Having bawled my eyes out in the car on the 40min journey to the vets I suddenly thought it might not be so black, as I remembered Grommie had head tilt 10 days ago. So after pointing this out and discussing it with Vulture vet, it turns out that (despite what local vets said the other week when I took in Grommie and Beechie asking if they had mites ) Grommie (and we can therefore assume Beechie) does indeed have ear mites. Because they are extremely uncomfortable this may have led to his deterioriation in breathing - The ear examination today really stressed him, so they decided to keep him in, in case he needed oxygen, and have given him steroids and diuretics as well as anti mite treatment. As of half an hour ago, he is eating a carrot (and weeing for England), he hasn;t required oxygen at all and his breathing has stabilised :j:j
He's such a little fighter....and I think despite the additional expense and journey time i will be taking all the piggies to exotics vet in future.
Tomorrow afternoon the whole merry band are booked in for ear mite injections (which should also explain/sort out Beechie and Gingers problem :T) and hopefully I will also be able to bring Grommie home again.
Off to bed - knackered, relieved and minus all fingernails

Vet is confident that one lot of jabs should despatch the mites Numpty as they are easier to get rid of than mange mites- obviously I have got to clean and disinfect all cages this morning:D...and try and work out where the mites came from in the first place :think:....probably either the straw or hay.....
Apparently freezing the bedding before use cuts down the risk of transmission - maybe I will get that chest freezer after all
As for Grommie - hopefully he can come home today and I will have to be extra vigilant about his meds from now on
Hope you;re OK today Hun

Gosh, Wol, its neverending, isn't it - I'm sorry you were so upset, but glad that the resolution was "easy" - mind you, a chest freezer and freezing every batch of hay doesn't sound easy at all. Doable, but not easy.
Have you slept?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC
Not long now before youbecome my nearest neighbour :j:j
Do you have a date yet?
Freezing the bedding would be a logistical nightmare but easier than microwaving it which is the other option . Most of the stuff I buy is compressed packed (and would fit quite easily into a smalll size chest freezer) ..the alternative is to ask the vet to prescribe me a bottle of the anti-mite stuff and give them routine injections every 3 months to keep them clear
I did manage 4 hours uninterrupted sleep last night - haven't had more than that for the last 6 months (except last friday night!!)
However now that things are finally settling down here, hopefully I'll be able to address this and soon be back to my 6hours plus.:D

Six hours plus would be welcome - I was down to less than that last night too, I spent too long on the laptop (no, not *sitting* on it, silly Z
- see, I'm channelling him
).
And yep, I have a date - Wednesday 18th, which is what I wanted, seeing as we've had to wait so long - I certainly didn't want Friday. yuck. Are you out and about over the weekend? Fancy being my first visitor? Everyone who visited me the first days at this current house is away on holiday during that time!
EDIT - I realise now that that sounds like a "second best" kind of thing - its just that I'm so aware of how "billy no mates" that sounds:o:o

Hope the piggies all get well soon and then you can start to sleep better...xxx
How exciting for the move KC xx0 -
I hope Grommie is home
Ginger will probably want to stay for another few weeks to chat his girlfriends up
and probably told the other piggies about it , so they will want to stay:rotfl:
It might just be someting they picked up in the grass:huh:
Maybe letting you have the injection stuff, would be a good option
