Wol's Riverbank tales: Part 3 Restoration

I can't quite believe it - there's a massive lump in my throat and i feel in a bit of a daze.
Big Bruv, Top totty and I have just had a rather emotional group hug before they left:D
It's all finished bar the carpet fitting by a certain Simian on monday next week. :jThe dining room furniture is all moved back, the oak floor looks lovely (and level :rotfl:) and the pictures are up. :T
The kitchen is a bit of a mess at the moment as they decided to re-do the window sill again (for the fourth time :rotfl:) so i have to wait 24hrs for it to dry and can then remove the dust sheets tomorrow.
I've got counselling later so will start putting the house contents back to rights tomorrow (there is clutter stashed everwhere except where it should be :cool:). Hopefully I should have it all sorted by the time Horace et al get down here towards the end of next week.
Big Bruv is coming back on tuesday afternoon to touch up a few bits of paintwork after Numpty has put back the carpets.....and then we will be opening a bottle of fizz to officially toast The Restoration and [STRIKE]getting wasted [/STRIKE]all going for a meal in the pub that evening to celebrate a good job well done:T.
Wow - it's really happened - pinch me someone - I think I'm dreaming:)

Hi gang
I will pack a packtowel in my bag (erm just added one to my little suitcase). Well done on the house too.
I have had my hair cut especially - I followed my hairdresser to a new salon (Lisa Shepherd - she is the colourist on the channel 4 programme 10 years younger), it is swish, you can help yourself to a cold drink from the smeg fridge, or have a hot drink from a myriad of coffee machines, there is free internet in case you need to do some work. The salon itself is fab and after my colour went on, I sat in the coffee area reading a magazine and the newspaper. Then I was taken to have my hair washed and after it had been toweled dry I was asked to follow the girl to the treatment room, this was a room with a lovely picture on the ceiling, muted lighting, relaxing music and a chair with another sink, I sat on the chair and it was adjusted for me so I lay there - she switched the chair on to give me a massage whilst she used conditioner and gave me a fabby scalp massage..it was soon over and then I went for a cut. I must be crackers as I said that I was bored with having a bob so now I have very short at the back and a bit long at the front but it is still shorter than it was...I look different:j
Did a spot of clothes shopping, took umbrella (it didnt rain but what's the betting if I had left the brolly at home then it would have chucked it down:eek:), then was waiting for bus and one pulled up (not the one I wanted) well, the driver was finishing his shift and it happened to be the chap I first went out with whe I was 19 (and who I had a little fling with last year) got off and was stunned to see me with short hair (he loved my long hair)..needless to say we had a bit of a smooch (norty Horace:rotfl:). Now I am nearly 49 I don't care and will do norty things:rotfl:
Workwise - I havent done any today at all:eek:0 -
That is great news Wol- chuffed to bits for you.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Horace - picking up bus drivers, whatever next, you shameless hussy!
Wol - well done on getting this far, at last some semblance of normality and definitely cause for celebration. I am raising my mug of caffeine in a toast as I write this (nothing alcofrolic as I am at work!)One life - your life - live it!0 -
That's absolutely fantastic news.I'm so pleased for you.Enjoy the celebrations..you deserve them x0

Well, I woke up at 7am wanting to "get things sorted" but after a cup of tea decided to go back to bed.....woke up an 90 mins later and read a book untill 11 and then got up to "start the osrting".
So spent 7 hours non-stop.....but now kitchen, utility and dining room are populated (and re-organised) from the boxes...which are all now empty :j:j
AND - everything has been washed/cleaned prior to going back in the cupboards (dishwasher has had a field day)
Next stop is downstairs cloaks and lounge tomorrow (plus a bit of shopping for The Rave)...and finally bedrooms and study on sunday
OOoh - it's starting to look like home..:T.and I'm still doing a "double take" everytime I walk into the dining room and see tables/chairs etc....ON A LEVEL FLOOR and paintwork that isn;t peeling/falling off :rotfl:
