    Hi KC

Guineas produce two types of poo....the brown [STRIKE]chocolate-chip[/STRIKE] sausage shaped ones which they deposit on the floor of the cage .(and which I'm using for Fleure)...and a special yukky green squishy smelly one called a caecotroph which they eat as they produce it...(hence you rarely see it...Bandit produced one when the vet was examining him yesterday.....phhwwaaaaawwwwww.....I believe it is described in the literature as "aromatic" :o)

It's because they can't chew enough to get all the nutrients out of their food so they re-ingest these special poos......same type of thing as a cow chewing the cud......

    oops sorry if TMI :o

Oh! I didn't realise there were two types. My niece has a rabbit, so of course I knew about the eating poo bit, but didn't realise it was different.

What I do remember from my own experience is my cats...... I let each of them have one litter before being done, and I remember them both instinctively licking the kittens' poo up - I always presumed that that was to avoid predators catching wind of them (literally!) :)

This is all definitely TMI really, isn't it........ :) but such fun!
