All in, many families on benefits are better off than their neighbours who are working an average paid job.

One single mother I know is taking about 23k all in, when you work out everything...and thats tax free.

Something has to be done about this. You cannot have a situation where you are just as well off doing nothing as the person next door to you who's spending 300 days a year at work to get the same standar of living, or in a lot of cases, much better off than someone with a lower paid job, living with others as it's the only thing they can afford.

What benefits is she receiving in order to amass a whopping £23k? Can we have some vague figures please?

It's not what she's receiving, it's what shes not paying.

Council tax, Housing Benefit, NI, Income Tax, Prescriptions, Dentist.

Then add on, Income Support, Child Benefits and something else (can't remember the name now). Even gets a christmas bonus.

Add all of those things up, add on tax, you come to around that figure.

When i was in management I knew one like that , planned pregnancy to when she needed a kid , to give her her dues it was all from the one father though. Also worked on top of that the maximum in part time on top.

They Lived in a council property , then when her brood became big enough swapped houses with her mother whom had the semi detached that she grew up in.Now thats recycling. All sisters did the same lifestyle , 3 of them , although only the eldest got the "big" house.

However this of a staff of 165 there was 3 like this , so it was in no way a majority thing.Nowadays the majority would be working full time claiming tax credits as that works out better for them.

How about we go the whole hog , and licence having kids.Temporarilly sterilise everyone at age 12 , no work = no kids. You gotta love demolition man movie it gives one some great ideas , and warnings. How about you have to save up the equivelent of 2x minimum salary before anyone gets a licence for a single kid?Even better one father for each womb for life , it would make the selection of Mr Right come back in the picture , not mr right now.

Perhaps the answer simply lies in making it illegal to have kids across the board until you can support them unaided for the duration , and not just for those on benefits. For those whom cannot afford them I am sure theres childless couples out there that would appreciate them ripped from the teat and gave to them.Maybe thats the answer , baby pods , using the unwaged as impregnated sows for those that can afford them but cannot have them.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

It may be whopping but it is by no means an unachievable figure.
Rent, community tax, benefits for one adult and, for arguements sake, three children. If either the adult or one of the children has a disability, there's an allowance for that plus a carers allowance and quite often a mobility allowance too.
Free school meals, an allowance for school clothes, free prescriptions...........

I dare say it is, I'm just waiting for Graham to supply figures. He must know this woman very well in order to know that her income is £23k, so it should be quite easy for him to provide even vague details, such as how many children she has, whether any are disabled, how much her benefits are, etc.
