well i've finally been offered a Halifax account so now i have the fun in deciding how i plan to operate it to my benefit and not theirs.
seems strange but i'm jealous that you're you're own boss, i know it can have lots of drawbacks but you're right you won't make yourself redundant, and i'm getting more and more worried about such things at the moment.0 -
Hi all..just updated my sig ..it took ages and I had to keep altering it!!!!
Every credit card and loan balance is exact as of today...
While it looks like I have a lot more debt ..I don't as the money to pay Virgin is still sat in my current account..when that goes over to Virgin then that will go to nil..so will be paid off as I have accounted for it as it's the A+L CC balance IYSWIM...then I'll have to add £2000 onto Halifax CC when I pay for the heating....
I thought this was the best way to write it out...the loan amounts include all the interest as well.
I phoned for settlement figures tonight and the lady said I might as well let the loans run their course as ...between both loans I would only save £300 in total paying them both off by the 23rd of next month. Not that I have the money anyway.I'm that far into the loans I only pay a few pounds interest for the month.
Saving a total of £300 would be nice but by the time I save up to pay them off it will be even less of a saving!!!
It wasn't in my mortgage masterplan to pay them off early and I had only accounted for putting the money away for the last 12 months of the mortgage challenge.0 -
Hi Taxi
I spent ages trying to get my signature done too!!!
You're doing really well. It'll be nice to put a line through the whole debt. What's also great is that you are doing up the house - getting it decorated, properly maintained with the new boiler and getting it really nice and tidy.
That's really good going! Well done.

Thanks URG...I feel like I'm going one step forward and two back at the moment...but looking back over the last two years we've had to finance 2 new cars...had the whole house DG,2 new fires and fireplaces installed..new gas boiler and stuff..decorating,plastering...forgot about a lot of that.
I was disappointed writing the sig as the money for virgin is still in my bank account..daren't pay it yet incase something goes wrong with the Halifax card when I pay for the boiler!!!...it will bring the total down nicely though when I pay it off either way.0 -
I'm being nosey are you a black cab taxi which can be haled or one that needs to be pre-booked?
Bet it's dead frustrating to sit round ages then only getting a short journey and having to wait again.
DH is sitting sighing looking at his car books as I speak - not getting a lot of sense out of him at mo- so will leave him to study in peace and ask him again later - a delicate being my DH when he is 'pondering' - much better to be left and have a bit of space then find out whats up later.
Off to make him a brew - bless :rolleyes::D:p - wouldn't swap him though - no one else would have him :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm a private hire..so bookings only!!!
Your DH sounds like mine>> i need to give him space when he's pondering as well!!.0 -
Taxi that's good going - all those household jobs as well as paying debts and working too. Sometimes it pays to have a re-cap as we forget just what we have done. As well as the household jobs making your home more comfortable for you those sorts of jobs all add value.
In the last 3 years we too have done loads of housey work - new fireplace, plastered, small dining room extension, doors moved, window taken out in kitchen, new kitchen, fitted bedroom, (cheap) carpets, decorated everywhere, garden re-done, DH built garden railway.
I just had a shock when I saw it written down. A lot was done when I was off work for builders to come round. But once the building was finished we have done most of it ourselves. I was sitting all day using a garden trowel at one stage to fill buckets with soil as it was all I could lift - had to wait for DH to empty bucket for me as I couldn't lift. Must have been mad when I look back - it has mainly been done by mse, sheer determination and hard work. Does us good to see just what has been achieved sometime- mind it needed doing as it was in very bad state of repair - no big jobs done since we moved in 25 years before  - probably won't be done again for another 25

Was laughing at the 25 year bit...I can be honest and say that we hadn't done anything in the 7 years we've been here.
You've got loads done.I bet it's looking great now.
DH says when we are finished he's going to put a ribbon across the back door and then cut it(like one of those opening ceremonies)0 -
