hi taxi, blimey planning to be mortgage free at the same time as debt free, you'll be soooooo lucky, we're planning on increasing our mortgage when we're debt free, but i am hoping to be able to over pay or get a reduced term mortgage when we do move to our first proper, yet final home.0

It always staggers me how differently each member of a couple can see money, but maybe its something that needs to be talked about *before* getting hitched..........
The partner I have is my business partner - we've worked together for over 20 years now, and we know each other's attitudes to money inside out, of course - but we were friends before we became business partners, and maybe one reason was that we *were* thinking alike on money.....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
All that thinking in one week Taxi - WOW. Sounds like a good plan - will be watching as it transpires from plan to reality - you go for it!!
After my visit to Abbey yesterday - I suspect you are right about Santander not knowing one body part from another - but do any of the banks??
MilannJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Hi all...hope you're all ok.
What a day...woke up at 6am (to go to work) and had agonising stomach pains.
Went back to bed got up at 10am...still in pain....dozed on/off on couch until 12.30 when gas man came(that's another story)....
Then slept from 5pm until 11pm!!!!....
So have done nothing today!!!!!
We had a new circuit board and a couple of other parts fitted last week to the boiler....as we were very rarely getting hot water.
But after they fitted them we still had the problem on/off...so ended up calling them again yesterday.....BG came out today and were here 3 1/2 hours!!!!!!!
He took the whole thing apart....cleaned the fan.....fitted a new diaphram(it had a hole in ..that's why we had no hot water)....and did something else.
He said we needed to consider a new boiler sooner rather than later and has made an appointment for BG to come and see me....but they will probbably be very expensive!!!!
I'm hoping the boiler will last a good while as it's had nearly every part renewed..it's about 15 years old now and is starting to corrode inside!!!.....they say it will be hard to get parts.
I had a quote offf my plumber a couple of months ago....but have looked on gas safe and he isn't on there ..so will be a no no
Do any of you know what it costs to have a replacement boiler fitted?0 -
I'll be trying to be debt and mortgage free by the end of the 3 year years as it can be possible but if it takes me 5 years then so be it.
I can never say for sure as we don't know what we will earn from day to day or what will go wrong with the cab/house/us etc...lol....
I was just messing with figures and those are what I come up with needing to put away...if I can do that then it will work......time will tell.0 -
Ouch on not feeling well hope you have recovered.
Ouch on the boiler too we have been having lots of problems with ours which is 12 years old so I am hoping that it too keeps going a bit longer and also the car which has now done 140K - I know we can't expect them to last forever and thats what savings are for but I am so desperate to get rid of this debt that savings seem such a waste especially with the low interest rates - but I know I will probably reget it in the long runI am hoping an offset mortgage next year when our tracker runs out will be the answer to both problems - so message to car and boiler hang on a bit longer
You are going great guns taxi :A

Thanks DT...
Am feeling loads better today but slept in until 10.15am.So will work tomorrow instead while DH is in bed(it's our day off tomorrow). He does an all night tonight so will be in bed until tea time tomorrow.
I'm with you on the boiler and am hoping it will last longer but I do have savings towards it if needs be.
Offset trackers are good but at the moment while mine is 0.99% it's not worth me putting the extras in there..hence why in egg at 3.25% and halifax at 5%....
You just have to keep your eye on the ball with a low rate mortgage.
savings rates are getting lower...I took that 5% on 14th and they lowered it to 2% friday..luckily because I deposited on 14th my rate is fixed at 5%.0 -
Good news with the savings rate - makes a change to get in before the rate falls - I am usually the other way round. Yes I understand why you wouldn't want to offset at the moment my tracker rate is not that low but is stil pretty good it will depend on what rate we can get next August when my current deal comes to an end.
A lie in will do you good.
