    banked takings
    filled car
    PAD to Virgin..£10
    all online banking accounts checked
Phone Santander to cancel cc..but dept shut at 4pm..so will have to do monday.
Transferred £1800 Virgin to DHs card online
Phoned MBNA and ordered transfer into bank account so that I can pay it to Virgin.
Filled in paper work for Halifax savings...need to take into branch mon
Phoned halifax to double check that they have given me the 5% rate as it changed to 2% yesterday...my money was in on the 14th so get the 5%
Wrote cheque ready for office tomorrow
Got new badge and paperwork out to be copied in the office tomorrow...new badge starts tomorrow
    Done accounts for today
Sorted my purse out....shredded couple of closed card and loads of old receipts.
    Post..put away/sort/file/shred bin...all done.

Am going to put a wash load on and dry it

    Hi Taxi

Hope you have a lovely evening. Being mortgage and debt free sounds wonderful!!!!! I know that you can do the necessary.

Life is a very manic but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. A couple of the voluntary projects Iam working on are aobut to finish so I can focus on debt busting and wedding planning.

I'm a little worried about OH's attitude to money. He came home wanting to buy a brand new car on Friday night. I really don't see the need. We were very lucky to be given an unwanted car by a cousin and we only ever use it at the weekends. I realise that we will need one in the future but don't feel that we need a brand new one. He's just blinded by the get £2k off incentive. Grrrrrrrr

When I am debt free and we are married we will have to sit down and work out a joint budget so that we can update the flat (so that we can sell it or rent it out when we buy a house); save towards a new house; buy a newer second hand car.

    Does it never end?

Sorry for taking over your thread - I should really ramble on my own!

Will be up early tomorrow so I'll catch up with you tomorrow evening. New job starts on Monday. Am a bit (read REALLY) nervous!

He might think he needs to compensate for something. Was it long and thobbing? The car he's after I mean...

That's what the 2K incentive was for - to blind people to the real costs. Someone calculated that with the severe depreciation of new cars, that 2K would last for 87 days of depreciation on the average car...

Hi Urg..ramble away all you want....no problem.

Think you will slowly have to bring your OH round bit by bit and make him think it's his idea.
My DH only started seeing the point in all this a few weeks ago and that's after me going at it over 3 years!!!!

As for cars I'm no help as I only ever buy brand new but that's because it's a taxi...I wouldn't buy new for private especially you not doing many miles.

Don't be too nervous about the new job.You are right for it that's why they picked you.

I'm fine. How are you? Managing to avoid the lurgy?

That made me laugh out loud!!!!

    A good point - I'll mention that.

I seem to get this from quite a lot of diaries - one of the couple seems to be the one who is 'responsible' for the finances.

    That makes sense for you.

    Thank you!

    You're wecome URG.....
I totally agree that loads of couples seem to have only one person on board.....I'm sure you will get there with him.
Don't get me wrong DH has always been on board but nevber had to think about anything money wise and always goes with what I say.
All he wants to do is go to work and just hand the money over to me...and me to deal with everything.
He doesn't even know how to use a cash machine!!!!...LOL
Since I've mentioned being debt and mortgage free and discussed in simple terms the savings etc he has took an interest...
