Thank goodness for that, it would be awful to have to battle when you are coping with other things.
I hope they will take the financial stress off you and DH x0 -
Hi Taxi,
Another longtime lurker just wishing you all the very best. You are obviously very strong and have no shortage of people who care about you! Am at the tail-end of treatment for Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma. A few things I remember from the 'start'- "Step Away From the internet!"
- Get your treatment info from your team at the hospital - there are shedloads of websites out there (good and bad)! The Macmillan site is good for a vent/rant/info and I'm sure you'll be directed 'good' sites dedicated to your cancer. I found that sometimes I wanted loads of info - most times I didn't want to hear/read about cancer but just get on with it - There is no such thing as a daft question - if you're not sure ask. I always took OH in to appointments because I would always forget what I was told the minute i stepped outside. Always write down questions/things bothering you...
- Echo the warning about massage - I was told no-no but did have a couple of reflexology/reiki sessions which were lovely
- Food - ask doctor. There's so much conflicting advice out there.
- Finances - Different circumstances but we pretty soon got to blood/stone stage and i fired off a load of "Hiyaaa!" letters (thanks Rainy!
) to creditors offering £1 a month. I included a letter from Consultant confirming my condition. I was main breadwinner with no insurance/sick pay so there was a kind of perverted relief in mentally getting that out of the way (and I never started my own DFW diary
) - like i say, different circumstances but might be worth considering? - Banish the "What ifs..." - take it one step at a time. Sometimes easier said than done but this is probably the most important thing I've got to share - helped me keep on an even keel anyway...

I'm glad that you have a good team behind you, and support, not just family, (dh is lovely, and the rest of them are, JJ, he's my little toyboy....).
Theres not much I can say, but didn't want to run without sending you love and hugs.
Message off mum, shes so sorry were not any nearer to you, as she says she can never thank you and JJ for everything you did for us, and she just wishes she could come and help. She's good at chip butties....
If theres anything you know were here, and as for long posts - go for it, because I find that I can type what I'm feeling better than saying it, as without sounding daft, although you have family suport, sometimes you just need those 5 mins ahhhhhhh time....
Dad says as well, sorry we're not nearer, and dd has asked can we come and live with you, as she can take Tess for a walk..... that would be a sight for sore eyes.
But glad everything going through with the insurances, there pretty good at getting down to the nitty gritty, ESA - they may be a bit of a pain, but I'm sure the nurse can help with the forms and the DLA, just that know what terms to use.
Better get back to my assisgnment, - as the martini girl use to say
anywhere, anytime, any place - I'm always here xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Taxi, I've just come back online after a couple of days off, and I'm absolutely shocked speechless, shocked to tears, that you got this news, I'm so, so sorry. In my worst nightmare, I didn't really think it would be this .... Things that you're saying about the stage the doctors think you're at are very good, the 5 year recovery rate is incredibly high for the early stages.......
Lovely to hear that your insurance company is on the ball, and the wonderful feedback you're getting on here from Hypno and Lenza and others..... I wish I had something like that to add ... the only thing I can think of is to support what El mentioned, that nutrition is incredibly important, to get advice from somewhere like The Bristol Cancer Centre, I think Prince Charles supports it, run it by your doc/oncologist, and go for it.
I'm back online now, so I'm keeping up with what you're doing. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Firstly Lenza...am so sorry that you have had to go through everything and am glad to see that you are getting to the back end of treatment.
Everybody is welcome here and post whatever they want and what you posted was fantastic and will be a big help.
I stopped looking around the internet a couple of weeks ago you'll be pleased to know.
As for finances ...you are right if worst comes to the worst I can offer them £1 per month or whatever.0
