I was not there (and neither were YOU?). However, at the very least, on behalf of her employer, she ought to have said "I am sorry".

Some customers look down on you because you work in retail. But at least you're not the one with no manners.

OP claims she did not get the chance. She is paid to be polite and had she started with "I am sorry, ......... " then the confrontation could well have been avoided.:A

Perhaps he was jealous that your sandwich contained real meat, while his kebabs are fatty rat byproducts?

Could be worse, a kebab shop in our town was shut down after the owner killed a girl and claimed he'd minced her up and put her in the kebab meat.

Sorry to upset the OPs feel good, but if she had handled this customer more sympathetically things could have gone better

I would have to disagree from OP's description and series of events sounds like he was just one of them people that are never satisfied.
  • I dealt with this as well as I could have. Before I even got to the stand he was raving about- clearly annoyed.

Superdrug do not operate a bait/switch or whatever that customer said. What happened in this instance is that Maybelline sent around new tag strips saying 3 for 2, and these slide in underneath the current price strip. The person who is responisble for the stand (not be btw) obviously got lazy and just moved the current strip over the 3 for 2 strip, the current strip then got dislodged, therefore showing the incorrect strip. Hope that makes sense?

This may sound petty to some of you, but it just really got to me as you think i worked there for 39 hours last week, and this one person could ring up and make me look really bad to the manager...i did tell the manager as well...

I know what you mean. I remember at a summer job (luckily none of the proper jobs I've had involve "public" customers) where a woman accused me of shortchanging her £10 as she "only came with twenties" and therefore basically accused me of theft to my line manager simply because my change tray was exactly right to the penny. Only ages later did she suddenly "remember" she'd paid for something else before coming in with a tenner. But until then it was "impossible" for her to be wrong and I had to have stolen it. She did give an apology but what if she hadn't remembered, it would only be my word against hers.

A man once threw his basket of shopping at me for asking his daughter not to push everything off the shelves politely (not an unreasonable request i might add), he threw it and it slid down the isle and missed me. What a JOKER!
