I have to say im with virgin, if id have known they had just taken over ntl i wouldnt have bothered. i have been with them 3 months now and each month my bill has been wrong. i have had to ring up and get it corrected. then they have still taken the higher amount out of my bank despite saying they had put it right. they have given me a large discount on the package but it doesnt make up for there billing departments error.
RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH:mad:
In case of ANY difficulty of ANY kind with Virgin, don't waste your time developing an ulcer trying to deal with their Custoimer "Service" people. I had to get my MP involved in the end. ALWAYS in the first instance write to:-

That is fantastic Nicandad. That was the deal I was on as well before I moved house. I tried to stay on the same deal but they said they couldnt do that. They said i had to pay for the mobile and international call deals. So i am paying About £20 for unlimited calls and 2mb broadband... which are on 12 month contracts as apparently your contract starts again when you move house!0

Thanks Martin I have received a better deal from NTL a saving of £9.00 a month plus talk unlimited locally, it took 3 calls but I got there in the end.:money:0

Just received a bill from VM for almost £60 for a month. Rang 150, but didn't press the "thinking of leaving us" option. Waited for a chat to an advisor.
Said I was reasonably happy with VM, but just couldn't afford the bills; what could she suggest.
Initially she offered to upgrade my TV package to Supreme, but when I asked how much that would save me she said "Oh" and tried again.
She was very pleasant, but I had to keep egging her on, and first she offered the 24 hour talk package, the prices came down to £41, then £34, then when I reduced my Broadband from 4mg to 2mg we eventually got it down to £28.45. This for a slightly poorer broadband, the same TV package, and 24 hour telephone talk package.
So thanks for giving me the kick up the posterior and making me pull my finger out. That will save me well over £30 per month.

I don't know how Virgin work it out but I called last week and was offered £20 a month for free TV (M package), 2 meg broadband and free evening and weekend national calls or £29.99 for the above but free anytime national calls.
I didn't take it as I'd seen others on here get better packages so I phoned again today and was first offered the same £20 deal as above but then he said wait and I'll see what else is available. He seemed to be going through different options on his computer and said things like "I'll see if this one's available" so I don't know if they maybe allow so many of each deal in each area.
Anyway, I've ended up getting the £19.95 deal for free TV (M package), 2 meg broadband, Talk Unlimited, Talk International and Talk Mobile and free caller display. It's a 12 month contract but I'm happy with that.

Thanks to this website, I managed to get what we used to pay £90 a month for, for just £42 quid from Virgin Media.
I phoned and said that another provider (SKY) is offering much more for much less and immediately the guy at Virgin offered a better deal. The only downside is that we're now tied into another 12 month contract "because they've given us a special deal" but we're going to be saving nearly £50 a month - Brilliant!0 -
I feel that I have just had some success with Virgin and thought i'd share it with you.
We were paying £37 a month for the medium TV, 2Mb broadband and basic phone package, which jumped up to £40ish after a 12 month deal ended. My husband and I decided that we didn't want the TV part at all, but were really happy with the broadband and phone. My initial phone call to customer services only got the TV/broadband deal reduced to £29.50, yet I noticed that new customers are offered the same deal for £15.50 and TalkTalk offer a similar deal for £16.39.
I tried again, but spoke to someone in the retentions department who immediatly offered me the £15.50 'new customer' deal or a £19.95 deal that also included very basic TV (akin to freeview) and unlimited national calls. I asked to think about it as no pressure was put on me to make an immediate decision. Today I called back and not only did they agree to honour the £15.50 deal, they also threw in the basic free TV (which I didn't really need) on a 12-month deal. They also agreed that I could upgrade my broadband to 4Mb for an additional £7 a month i.e. £22.50 in total.
The chap on the phone said that I could keep the TV basic package as it looked good for their figures and it would apparently be better for me in case I decided to upgrade in the future. Whatever, I don't care. All I care about is that I appear to be paying almost 50% less than what I had been paying for better broadband speed and have got rid of many rubbish TV channels I didn't watch anyway! hello0 -
We had been paying Virgin Media £40.50 a month for phone, TV and broadband, and after ringing them today we are now getting the same as we had before for £15.50. Result!
Thanks for all the above advice and info as it helped me to hold out for the best deal

This morning spoke to a totally unhelpful woman in the billing dept. who said she could do nothing for me.
A couple of hours later, I phoned back and spoke to the retention people. I was paying £52.25 pm for Phone XL, Bb XL and TV M with Talk Mobile and Caller Display. All I wanted was to switch my TV package from L to M.
I mentioned that the deal available to new customers was about £42 and the guy immediately dropped the price down to £36 pm with all the extras, the only difference being the change in TV package. Made my day!
My advice would be to stay polite and just keep phoning back until someone helps you.0 -
Hi Everyone
Just wanted to share my experience as hopefully it will help someone.
Firstly, I did a bit of hw on what I could get ie Tiscali and Talk Talk then I rang Customer Retentions and immediately said I would like to cancel all my services with them which are
XL BB £18.50 half price for 6 months then £37
XL TV
XL Phone all TV, Phone and Call Barring for £23.70
Call Barring
Eventually the adviser seemed very eager to tempt me to stay as I was saying I had an awful year with VM and my notes were probably 6 feet long!!!!
I knew that the £23.70 (XL TV, XL phone, L BB and call barring)was a really good offer anyway as I had been through hell and back getting them to honour the deal they had offered me, which included complaints and letter etc
Eventually they agreed in writing to give me it for 6 months and upgrade me to XL BB for £18.70
After alot of banter I managed to get 2 price reductions from £46.70 to £37.70 for
XL BB
XL Phone
XL TV
Call Barring
I am tied in for 12 months but its worth it (I hope, not unless one of you guys can help as I still have 14 days cooling period)
Oh and I made sure i got an email confirmation of everything just incase all the billing and everything messes up, which usually it does!!!!
Hope this has helped?????
Cheers :T
