I was offered the same deal as TalkTalk i.e. unlimited calls + their top broadband package (10MB?) for £17.75. I decided to add on the base t.v pacakage for a grand total of £25 per month. Might ditch the TV later and switch to freeview if I can find a decent DVD recorder with HD+Freeview.

Wouldnt worry about TalkTalk c/s, NTL turned off my broadband by mistake fri night. On Sat they gave me a 0871 number to call which never got picked up, then tried to make me call a premium 0906 number for support.

Finally resolved it when the operator realised they had changed my account details to give me the faster broadband  and they still haven't switched my TV package *sigh*

I contacted NTL a few weeks ago and told them I wished to leave because of the Talk Talk offer. The call advisor stated that NTL could match Talk Talk but initially told me that Talk Talk's Broadband was only 1 MB in my area.

I checked this with Talk Talk who stated it was not the case. I contacted NTL back and luckily enough spoke to the same woman. Once I confirmed that Talk Talk did up to 8MB in my area she offered me 10 MB broadband plus unlimited UK calls for £23 per month!

I think when you call may effect the offer though as my sister - in - law tried the same a few days later and they offered nothing! She called them when they were only open for another 30 minutes, so try calling in the morning!

I am new in this form, first post, so pls. bear with me.

Sorry if it has been posted/asked before, but after listening to Martin at Jeremy Vine's Show last Friday I called NTL and changed our package (2 tel lines, 2 MB BB) to Talk Unlimited 24 for both lines (2 MB BB remains, 4 MB was not mentioned). The total cost for this deal will be GBP 52.00/month. Call divert and itemised billing are on top.

This would be half of our monthly phone bill (currently GBP 100) and is a great saving.

I now had another look at our itemised bill and realise that a lot of our calls are abroad through 0844 numbers. Can anybody confirm that calls to 0844 numbers are included in NTL Talk Unlimited 24 or would they be charged on top of the package?

    Thanks a lot,
    Jana

Welcome to the MSE forums JKo.

Calls to 0844 numbers are without that package as are calls to 05, 07, 0845, 087 and 09 numbers (i.e. only 01/02 numbers are included in the package).

BTW, 2 x BT residential landlines would cost £22/month (with total freedom to route your calls via any of the numerous call providers, like 1899 and 18185, now available) and itemised billing is free. 1 x 2mb BB would cost an extra £17.99 (total £39.99).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks for that. It seems as if I will have to wait and see if we really save money, because we make UK landline calls only for a total of £18 from both lines (about £15 to 0844 and 0871 numbers and a few pounds to 0845 numbers).

We used to have one BT line, but need a second line for business purposes. Installation of a second BT line costs £99.00, but their 2MB BB is cheaper, only £18/month (compated to £25.00 with ntl).

    Thanks again,
    Jana

    Hi there
Im very sorry if this is the wrong place to post but we are Ntl customers. We have the basic line rental of £10.50p a month plus the basic Tv package at £5.50p. I use 1891.com to make calls as its cheaper. We would love broadband fitted. Can anyone please tell me how id word my haggling to get them to fit be broadband and role the 3 services into one. I tried online for the £30 per month deal but it said thats only for exiting customers. What should I say when I phone. Also does broadband need to be fitted as im wondering if Id need the day off when the fitter comes

Anyone know how much the sky equivalent tv package to ntl's Family plus Sports and Movies package costs?

Also does anyone know how much sky charge for set top boxes?

    £42.50/month (£21.25 for the first 3 months).

If you've never had Sky before, they will supply a brand new standard digibox and will fit it, the dish and all the necessary cabling - all for nothing (except your signature on a 12 month contract).

You have to agree to have the box connected to a fixed and operational telephone line for the first 12 months.

Ive been a NTL customer for a while now and have had no real problems with the service. I only have the phone and broadband service. I pay £16.50 for the 24 talk unlimited and £17.99 for the 1MB broadband. I have just rung them on the 0800 0529403 and after a short chat with someone on customer relations got put through to someone else. I told them that I had been on a comparison web site (which I had'nt) and Talk Talk had come out tops for value etc and was wondering if NTL were going to do anything similar. I then went on saying that yes I was happy with NTL but at the end of the day it all came dowm to price. The lady on the other end who was very nice offered me a £12.50 2MB broadband service that will upgrade on 1st June to 4MB and then said that she would knock the phone package price off and all I would pay is the line rental. In a matter of seconds I'd knocked about £11.00 off my monthly bill, which I could'nt believe. But being the moneysaver Iam, I thought lets see how far I can go. So I ummed and ahhed abit, kept repeating the sums back to the lady, then asked if there was anything else she could do. She replied, we're cut your line rental in half. Total price for Talkunlimited 24 and 2MB broadband which will still go up to 4MB £17.75 for all the time I stay with NTL.

So over one year we will save £212.88: Can't believe it

Cool, so how much would it costs to add an additional box at a later date? It says its an extra £10 a month it you get multi room,, so does this mean its £10 for 2 boxes?
