Theres at least 10 Jacks in DD yr at school! And the school only has a roll of about 800-900! And thats them all 12/13yrs now so she knows plenty of other Jacks both older and younger :rotfl:
The only problem with a really popular name is that the child will never be referred to as just 'Jack', its always Jack Surname IYKWIM??
Even in the xmas cards they used to give each other at primary school it was Merry Christmas from Jack Surname, a bit of a shame they feel they can't just write Jack.
On the plus side, if they turn out to be criminals, it's much easier to get away with things if you have a common name! As long as you don't have any distinguishing marks, scars or tattoos, you can just say you are someone else!0 -

Morning all... hope your weekends were lovely?
Managed to pick up the breast pump in the baby asda event this morning before work which was good only £10 yeyy..
Sleeping is becoming a mare.. my back is soo sore have a million pillows round me, poor hubby is squashed up.
I ate loads of cake at the weekend.. and had a glass of rose I've been craving for ages yummm x
Starting to stress about names, liked jessica but gone of since it was in a mag as one of the top 10 names.. just dont want her to be at school with 5 other girls having the same name, i did and it really bugged me. Want to steer clear of all the avas, ellies, imogens, evas etc.. so will wipe the slate clean and open minds further, wants something thats sounds powerful and not to girly girly..
Jessica is a lovely name and I was going to choose it for DD but glad I didn't as there are already four in her class. I called her Emma which I thought was fairly common but there isn't one other one in the whole school.
I'm having that issue with the name I've chosen for this one as I thought it was fairly uncommon then I quickly began to realise that it's everywhere and seems to be extremely common at the moment. I know other kids are always going to have the same name but I wish there wasn't quite so many as it takes the special-ness away from it a little bit IYSWIM.0 -
when we were thinking of other names ( i ha ours picked for years) i checked to see how popular they were. anything in the top 10 was an instant no.
plus i was teased so much on school with 'jack and jill' jokes i couldnt put any child through that. although i could never call a son Jack cos that would be plain daft.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

Totally! I always joke to my DD that she'll never get away with anything cos everyone knows her name and she's the only one :rotfl:0 -

I know a women whos maiden name is Ross, she wasn't married to her sons father and gave the boy his fathers surname. She named her son Ross. So Ms Ross has a son called Ross X! I think thats well weird! In the hospital the baby tag had Ross Ross on it cos its the mothers surname they put on it!0 -
Ooh, also, is anyone else not liking those "names that teachers associate with trouble-makers" type lists that seem to be in every newspaper at the mo? One of those put me off me and OH's fave name Liam - I think they should keep quiet as it stigmatises people.0
