I have bought maternity clothes from M&S, New Look, H&M, Next, Next Clearance, Littlewoods online, Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams (Red Herring). Other places are Top Shop, Zara, ASOS. The problem seems to be that not all stores stock the maternity ranges so it depends on your local stores. Otherwise it's shopping online!

I think my best buys have been from New Look and Dorothy Perkins. Reasonably priced and generally a good fit and selection. The tops I bought from M&S have shrunk (honestly, it's not just me getting bigger!). I got nice stuff from Next, but have hated their jeans with the side panels as I find they don't stay up and when I have no free hands to hold them, they are nearly at my knees!!!

P.S. Wasn't having a go at anyone about their weight - I just hate to read about women worrying too much about their weight. We all do it, but when pregnant, I don't think you should bother too much as long as you are sensible. When I first started on here, everyone talked about ice-cream and chocolate non-stop! At least we don't have those temptations anymore as once someone puts an idea in your head it's difficult to shake!!

kindof - not sure where you are, but a lot of shopping centres have a Mothercare. Also, Topshop, New Look & H&M do maternity, but depends on size of store whether they will have any in your area.

Fitzio - I have a few pairs of Next jeans from the last sale and have this exact problem! Not sure why they are so big? Have a pair of over-the-bump jeans from the US that I LOVE...not problems staying up there and soooo comfy as nothing cutting into your middle.
top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

They drive me mental. I borrowed braces from my dad in an attempt to hold them up, but don't really want to wear them over my tops and they aren't thin enough to wear under!! I get out of my car carrying shopping and by the time I have opened the door open my bum is on display for all of the neighbours to see - lovely!! But I am not going to buy any more as I don't have long to go, but it really stresses me out.

I have over the bump linen trousers from Next, and they seem much better. But I think Beenie said she hated OTB ones as they roll down on her. Everyone must be different.

My OTB ones come up high enough that I guess they don't - I bought 2 pairs from 2 different shops in the US, but maybe it's all down to body shape? I love them so much more than all the other 'side panel' ones I had before.

To keep my Next ones up, I tie a scarf as a belt! This way you don't have a belt cutting into you, but they stay up at least moderately well. Not perfect (and pain to re-tie every time you go to loo), but works well enough. Of course, this is what I get for buying online w/o trying on 1st :)

Might try tying a scarf around them then. I bought an XL belt (although it was difficult to find any belt that fitted around my bump!), but it didn't make any difference as I couldn't pull it too tight and the jeans just worked their way down anyway. Where would I find a cheap scarf long enough to tie around? I don't own any! I will try anything as some days I am nearly in tears at not having trousers that stay up! Thanks.

Ohh so far ive managed to keep off the mat clothes and just wear my normal stuff still, summer is great because all those pretty smock dresses look nice, my friend did give me some new newlook mat skinny black jeans which are fab over the bump band and look nice. Just long vests from topshop seem to do the trick also. I'm tired today roll on 5pm!!
    Received £2,626.00 in PPI -2013:j
    Received £1400 charges - 2006:j
  • I got a pair of black Topshop mat work trousers when I was about 10 weeks and been wearing them from about 25 weeks maybe, but are under the bump with side panels and have to hoik them up every time I get up off my seat (good job I got them as tried on my usual pair and apparently my thighs have expanded a bit and wouldn't be too comfy!).

Got an OTB pair of H&M jeans (well my mum got them for me :) ) and love them although their sizes are soooo wrong it's not true and also got some Next ones (only because a friend works at the HQ and went to the staff shop and each pair was £2!), one pair of skinny jeans with under the bump but they have a big elastic waistband rather than the panels, they are great, but other pair are rubbish with the panels, but were tres cheap so not fussed about the second pair.

Will not start ranting about non-availability of longer leg lengths for mat jeans/trousers, even though it was a nightmare when I was looking in the shops, when they actually stocked mat wear!

Top wise, I have got some mat tops but these were either cheapness in a sale or cheapness of ebay and even then I only have a few, otherwise is normal tops as I buy long stuff anyway as am a tall lady :)

Phew friend and her two children have gone. 3 hours they were here. The house doesn't look too bad a little bomb but not a major one. OMG am i really ready for another baby? Her little one had us running around after him all pm what with one thing and another. Her house of course is all safe and geared up for a toddler mine isn't so we were forever getting him off the stairs, stopping him putting biscuits in the dvd player, stopping him from reaching our hot cuppas etc i am knackered lol

On the clothes front i find it hard as i am over weight any way and only small even short leg jeans are too long for me. I have some maternity dorothy perkins jeans but they are already getting tight so i don't know how they are ment to grow with me. I think i am going to have to get a bigger size for the autumn/winter. I am ok for tops i still wear my normal one. Some Dorothy perkins stores are doing BOGOF on all sale items so i got two £4 tops the other day which are really good. I also got a dress from evans in outfit store was £35 reduced to £7 it had to be done. They start at size 14 so don't write them off because they are a plus size store when you can get cheap things it doesn't matter if i don't wear them again after pg i can sell them.

Littlewoods have a few bits in the sale.

    Aless Hope you feel better
I got some mat stuff in peacocks which seems to be wearing well, need to go shopping for another bra soon though as this one seems really tight at times. I am trying to be good and drink as much water as i can but i am going to the loo way too much. Walked into tooting earlier and had to pop into sainsburys twice and ended up buying more wispa golds, It's cadburys fault if i end up putting on ten stone or so do u think i could sue them !!!!
Darling son born 10/12/09 hopefully the 1st of many :j
