Oh we were told at breast feeding workshop last night to express after 10 days, and again store in freezer fridge serve at room temp, I reallly hope I can breastfeed looks quite calming and relaxing in a way...
Me, too. I thought I'd be a natural. Lord, knows why, but having seen the breastfeeding DVd they showed us at the workshop I'm now worried about being in the right position, baby not latching on or pressing his nose into my boob and a whole host of other nonsense. I think my OH would like to do a bottle feed in the evening but otherwise I'd like to BF the rest of the time for up to a year. I wonder how many people actually manage it.

Tomorrow I am going to Bravissimo to get measured for nursing bras and DH is taking a half day so going to Ikea to get a kitchen unit hopefully.
Oooh, I did this today too. Got a couple of nice ones in a 34G (feel absolutey enormous now!). Also got one from Rigby and Peller which isn't as nice but is a bit lower cut, as I like to wear v necks and the Bravissimo ones came up rather high. Top tip though is not to wear them before the birth, and to keep the tags on until you have tried them on once milk has come in, as your boobs can grow even more than they predict and there's nothing worse than spending a fortune on nursing bras which end up being too tight or giving you droopy boobs!
Welcome Musogirl and good luck with the pregnancy, and welcome back Squishy.kindofagilr wrote: »Your welcomeI didnt really say much though lol
I have been working out my maternity leave, what do you guys think of this:
Baby is due 8th March 2010
15 Feb - 7 March off work on Annual Leave (3 weeks from 09/10 year)
8 March - 5 Sept off work for 26 weeks on full pay maternity
6 Sept - 5 Dec off work 13 weeks SMP
6 Dec - 2 Jan 2011 (eek) on Annual Leave (3 weeks from 09/10 year, 1 week of Bank Holidays I should accrue whilst off on ML)
Does that sound good??
How much time can you carry over from one year to the next kindofagilr? I think that fattybooboo is right, and you will be cutting it a bit fine to have your maternity leave not start until the day before your due date, and you might end up losing some full pay time. Not all first babies are late - I'm on number 3, and although mine were all full term babies, I've never got further than 38 weeks with any of them, and the first arrived the next working day after I started my maternity leave! I'd be inclined in your shoes, to work out how much leave you can carry forward, and build that leeway into your plan, so that if baby does come earlier than 40 weeks, you don't lose very much of it.
Your baby is beautiful xmaslolly. They do tend to get a bit spotty for the first few weeks, but its nothing to worry about. I remember being terrified that mine were allergic to something I was doing, but its just a natural reaction to being in a different environment apparently. Yours is gorgeous too workinmummy. I love the one of him and dad asleep together!
I had an antenatal appointment today, which went fine, though my BP was up a bit from normal. C section has been booked for first thing in the morning on 24th, so apparently I need to be in the hospital by 7.00am at the latest . Not sure how we will combine that with getting the kids off to school at 9.00am but I'm sure we will be able to find someone who will help. Also had appointment with psych and as I'm feeling so much better, I'm going to reduce the level of meds, and hopefully can stop taking them before the baby arrives. If not, apparently they peak in the milk supply after 5 hours, so I could still breastfeed but might have to express and throw away one feed, and possibly supplement with formula if needed, for a short while.0 -
I would also like my DH to be able to do at least one feed a day, probably the evening one before bed. Hopefully I will be able to express enough to do this as I would like him to feel involved with the feeding too. Like you say though, it just depends how we get on and how much milk we have. I am going to go to the local breastfeeding workshop in October with my friend who is also expecting so hopefully this will be helpful.Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0
