we had planned to take the pram out for a stroll
we did that at 12.30am...if any of our neighbours had looked out their bedroom windows i'm sure they would have thought we were crackers...
but what will you do if someone stops you to have a look at the baby??
or is it a walk up and down the driveway/outside in the garden??'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

Morning all,
Congrats and welcome to the newbies.
Fitz – your pics are gorgeous, thanks for posting.
Tigs – glad to see you are home. Lots of get strong vibes for little Andrew.
On the subject of aquanatal, it is my understanding that your employer does not have to give you paid time off for this. I don’t think it’s fair that they should either. If your doctor recommends that you do classes like this for medical/relaxation reasons then your employer is obliged to give you time off, but if you just choose to go then they don’t. I personally think it’s unfair to expect employers to give you time off randomly for things you choose to do, although if employers choose to allow it then that’s obviously brilliant.
Quote from Directgov:
Antenatal care may include relaxation or parent craft classes as well as medical examinations, if these are recommended by your doctor. If you can, try to avoid taking time off work when you can reasonably arrange classes or examinations outside working hours.0 -
Went to Parentcraft class last night which only lasted an hour as they phsyio was ill so wasn't there for the second hour. Think I need to write my birth plan now since we have covered pain relief so don't think there is anything not covered.
Was feeling really fed up when I got home. Don't know why. DH kept asking what was on my mind, but it wasn't anything in particular. Just felt really down and didn't want to do anything. Caught up on here, but couldn't be bothered posting.
Today, I am going to Asda for food shopping as cupboards are bare. Then later going to meet DH near his work to go and visit his family as it's his gran's birthday so we are going out for dinner. No major plans. Might write birth plan and revisit the hospital bag situation!
What you all up to?

Fitzio - IME doctors very rarely recommend things like aqua-natal anyway, it's generally the MW. IMO if a class is beneficial to your pregnancy and it falls at a time when you would normally be working you should be allowed time off for it. It says in that paragraph about relaxation - aqua natal would be counted as relaxation and is beneficial to pregnancy.
many areas only have 1 class a week at a set time - if this falls at a time when you aren't in work then great but if you are in work then I think you should be allowed the time off for it.
My local one was a Tuesday 12.30pm-1.30pm - this would have also incurred 20min travelling time each way. What I did instead was went to one closer to work which was 3pm-4pm so I finished work an hour earlier rather than be awaying from work for 2 hours.
I personally found it soooooooooooooooo relaxing to be in the pool and it did my hips and back the world of good for a day or two.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

I would not dispute that it would be beneficial to most people and that it is relaxing, but I wouldn't want someone going into their work and demanding time off because they are entitled to it, when the law doesn't actually state that ifswim.
I think it's great if you can negotiate time off with your employers for things like that (and I am sure I would have been lucky enough to be able to do that in my job), but I would not have asked as I don't think it's fair to the employer and morally I would want to get a balance. Yes, it would be relaxing, but there are other things I can do to relax outside of working hours.
I respect that other people think you should get time off, and by all means ask and try and get your employer to give you time off, but just wanted to make sure that people aren't too shocked if they get rejected (sometimes things are stated here as fact when actually it depends on how you read it). As someone else mentioned, jobs where days off vary could probably fit around the class so I would say the employer doesn't need to give you paid time off as you can both work around it.
Anyway, did you get up and have your breakfast? I am still in bed!!! :eek:0
