You can just about see her in there!!

Hey, just quickly popping in... no name yet beenie we get 21 days and it usually takes all of them for us to almost agree ;):D although caught dh calling her "thingy" earlier :rotfl:I was too tired to tell him off :o we have a surname that is full of vowels so it can turn a perfectly acceptable 1st name into a tounge twister

ok gtg express fussy little madam only likes the fast side...

Glad you got your tens machine sorted glam.

Will be back with birth story once I get a min (after getting dd1 her hockey kit  I forgot :o it is ok though I have until Thursday :rotfl:)

    Hugs and best wishes x
  • Aargh- I swear getting up at 5:15 gets harder every single day!

    CB- She is just gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing your packing list Glam, that's really useful. After saying I was going to use one I already had I managed to get a thin, black dressing gown in Primark yesterday for £7. I also bought a button up nighty for £3.50 which will be fab for breastfeeding so I hopefully have enough bits now. Just need some cheap baggy bottoms as the only ones I have are proper sporty ones which are quite fitted and probably not good straight after birth.

My OH is up for skin to skin but I haven't mentioned cutting the cord yet. He can be quite squeamish (couldn't look when I had my injection yesterday) but he might want to.....who knows!

Off to see the MW after work today. Anyone else feel life is just a series of medical apts at the moment! Although I shouldn't moan as I've only actually seen the MW three times since I've been pregnant and I am 30 weeks now, so that's hardly excessive.

Hi Bear, I like the idea of doing a cross stitch height chart but though it probably wouldn't be very accurate as the fabric always seems to stretch in weird ways. Did you consider that or would you disagree?

    Hi jenny,

They aren't always 100% accurate and they take for ever to make, but I've done this one before for a cousin and I love it!. I think as long as you keep the water cool when you wash it, it's fine.

Aww, CB shes lovely, so content looking all cocooned in there! Well Done!

Its wet and grey and mingin here today, which suits my mood perfectly unfortunately. Must have only had 3-4 hrs sleep. Had some problems come to light with my DD last night. Can't say too much cos its quite sensitive, need to wait and see what today brings to the situation.
So glad this one is a boy, teenage girls come with a whole other set of worries compared to boys!

Anyone bought a Tummy Tub bath? I.m quite fancying one but they are quite expensive. Should I just bath him in a washing up bowl in the kitchen sink?! Gosh, it's way too long since I did all this, I feel so out of touch!

I've got one but it came from freecycle! Have only heard good things about them - apparently bubs love them! The lady I got mine from said her little girl used to skoosh round and round in it when she was in :D

now I know why I need to spend more time catching up with you all, I miss all the good news - congrats CB and Tigster (sending special hugs and growth and strength vibes to little Andrew)!

have another consultant appt at 10:40am about my BP (excellent time as I end up avoiding a half day in the office!). Despite a history of high bp and booking in bp of 144/96, since about week 14 my BP has been 115-130/70-85 so hoping it continues like that and I avoid any meds or in patient monitoring or anything like that. Am 26 weeks tomorrow and counting every day my little man is growing in me as a blessing.

Good news about the move - we've had 11 viewings, 2 second viewings and at least another 3 for the next few days on our flat since Saturday so agents we are buying from are saying that keeps the vendors of the house we offered on happy and keeps them from doing more viewings! Fingers crossed for an offer coming our way very soon!

This week's class was about labour. Everyone in the class is on their first child, and the MW is definitely not promoting home births for your first. I can understand her arguments against it and I personally agree that it's not something I would want at this stage, but it's definitely put across as a no no. I think if anyone did fancy it, they would be too scared to speak up. She is nice as well, but it's very much being talked at instead of any discussion. She also asked if anyone fancied a water birth and recommended that it wasn't great for a first baby. No-one spoke up.

What a shame - can't see there's any issue with HB or WB for first or any birth as some kind of principle  If you're low risk HB is just as safe as hospital and WB is about the environment, why should it being your first make any difference? I really don't think ante-natal classes should have an agenda like this - they should present the facts, as far as they are known, lay out the options, the pros and cons, and provide a forum for questions and discussion.

I actually reacted against a strong HB agenda in our hypnobirthing classes, so it's not just about my personal choices. It's the having an agenda at all.

Does make you realise the level of divergence of opinion even among healthcare professionals! Our MW was the one who suggested HB to us and has been v supportive, yet others are clearly still anti. You'd think there would be more consensus now that midwifery's becoming a graduate profession so you'd think the curriculum and professional practice would be more similar across the country. Hmmmm, probably naive of me!!!
