Got my application form yesterday. Is it mandatory to return the DD form? (I gave up with their phone line) Thanks

No you don't have to return the DD, as you can add funds via BACS or FP if you wanted to, and withdraw with the card and reader or the Instant Access Savings card via a cash machine.

Update - I checked my tesco account this morning and noticed a new account in the list, this new account was opened on the 21/08/09. Anyway, I did a tranfer from my halifax account into this new account and a transfer from my old tesco internet saver saver and all went well.

I was able to transfer every peny from my old internet saver to the new one, I need only close the old account now to obtain any interest.

And it only took one week to open this account instead of 2 months.
  • Well I've just applied for mine giving details of my existing account. Lets see how much kerfuffle is involved - could be bad, esp. as I've recently moved.

hoping won't have to mess around with card reader stuff, just operate on basis of transferring money to my then 'old' tesco account and moving money to/from there as an intermediate account.

Ooh, that sounds encouraging Bagsacash. I'll eagerly await our postie but try not to get my hopes up too much that mine will be up and running as quickly as yours :rotfl: .

Thanks Bagsacash - that sounds really encouraging. I opened mine 2 days after you, so I'll check online on Wed and see if mine has appeared. My only concern is that if I transfer all my money from my existing account then the cash may not be available until I've sent the forms back, had them processed, they've written back to me etc etc, and who knows how long that may take.

Do you know whether you can close the existing/old account online, or do you have to write to them.

Well, this seems to be going very smoothly.

I had my letter on Monday (24th), signed and returned it same day, today (26th) new account is showing, I've transferred most of the money from the old account into it and it went straight away. Just phoned and had a most pleasant conversation with a gentleman to close the old account and have the balance and interest transferred to the new one which should take a couple of days max.

    Nice one Tesco!

Just seen your question Dorsetlass. I've closed my old one over the phone.

Thanks Tomsmum - I received my paperwork yesterday (redirected to france where I am temporarily) and will post it back tomorrow. No sign of the account being opened in the meantime though - knew I was being a little optimistic! Really pleased for you that your new account is up and running with little bother.

Yes, I kept checking mine :rotfl: . I think they wait until they receive the form back then do the necessary before it shows up online. Still, the day following receipt of the form back is pretty good.
