Tesco Internet Saver - Rate increase
Comments
-
Just phoned tesco and was told to get the new rate on the internet saver I would need to close the existing account and open a new one.
What F* !!!! holes
This is what I was thinking of doing. Now, which way round to do it?
Knowing what a fiasco it is getting an account up and running to start with, I thought I'd open the new account and get that going before I close my old account (it's a joint account). Now I wonder, once I close my old account, would the new one automatically qualify for the new rate????????? or would I have to ask them?????????? and then check to see if they've done it?????????
I'm really not sure I'm up to this :rotfl: .0 -
I'd say that as you now have a joint account then you could open a sole account and enjoy the new rate without having to close the existing joint account.0

Well I have just applied online for this account and chosen to transfer money from my existing Internet Saver to the new one. It said my app has been accepted in principal and gave a ref no.
But I'm expecting a comeback. So in the meantime I will type up a letter to have the existing account closed.0 -

I know just how you feel, it was a real effort getting the last account open.:eek:0 -
I phoned tesco again and I'm informed that I can open a new account and then I transfer the money from my existing account to the new one and close the existing account over the phone.
Just hope now her information is correct.0 -

That sounds promising Bagsacash. Are you going to do it? I'm teetering on the edge of "Oh go on then". Perhaps I should ring them and get someone to tell me the same, and make a note of their name for future reference. I'm having a bit of a do with the Newcastle at the moment (god, they're such liars!) and I'm having my complaint investigated so I really couldn't be doing with another c*ck up!

I've signed up, it askes where you want to tranfer the money from so I used my existing internet saver account details, but left £1 just incase trying to withdraw the lot causes problems.
Just need to wait and see what comes through the post, if its all that faffing about like it was before I'll just go see the doctor for some powerful sedatives, the stuff they give out in Broadmoor mental hospital, to calm me down, before proceding further.0 -

The info is correct, the person I spoke to first said I had to close the existing account first, but when I said I didn't think so, she checked with a supervisor and the above is true.
However, she did say that to close the existing account and include the interest owed, then enclose a note stating this along with the new application which comes in the post after completing the online application. I will select moving any outstanding money to the new account.
Seems a strange way to do it for existing customers? They already have all our details.0 -
Only one account per person is eligible for the bonus.
- A customer can only have one account with this 1.75% bonus so they can only save £100K at this interest rate.
- A customer can only have one Tesco Internet Account with a bonus at anyone time.
I currently have an Internet Savings Account with bonus, opened in January. I will need to clarify.Dagobert0
