The only problem I had was my new account disappearing after the original account was closed. I then had to add it again using "Add account". This gave me a problem as I had to set up a new payee which for some reason kept giving me a "service unavailable" error.

I phoned just before 5pm tonight and went through it with their helpline. At first we could not work out what the problem was until I mentioned just having recently closed an account but still using the same login details. Apparently the system still recognised my payee as having already been set up and would not let me do so again even though I now had no access to them.

I was told that a call would be raised to fix this issue. Around 90 minutes later they called back to say it had been fixed and I should now be able to set up the payee which I now have.

So a slight hiccup but all resolved pretty quickly.

Best make sure your payees are still there or that you can set up new ones with no problem.

Thank you for mentioning this Jem. I've just checked my account and it was not there so I did the "add account" thing. Then checked but all my payees have gone too. I went through the process of adding one but got the "service unavailable" message. Looks like it will be a phone call in the morning for me too, just when I was singing their praises  . Oh well, hopefully it will be resolved as quickly as yours but what a shame it fell down at the last hurdle!

Make sure you mention that you have just had an account closed and a new one opened. I didn't mention it initially and we went through all the possible options including making sure my account details were correct for the account I was setting up. It was only when we were stuck for ideas that I mentioned the old account - I didn't really think that had anything to do with it but obviously it had.

Perhaps i should have guessed earlier as in the day before the old account was closed and both accounts were showing I had checked out my payees then. Both were there and I even tried a payment from my new account and all was fine. It was only when the old account was closed and disappeared off internet banking that the payess disappeared too.
  • where does the add account option appear?

I can't get the same option up now that I've added my account but IIRC once you've logged in and get the screen where your account would normally show at the top, it is on the left hand side where you'd normally find the transfer/payment/change settings etc., options. There should be an "add account" option.

Just gone through the "Add Account" procedure, no problem but was a bit worried when I first logged on to see no savings account, though I knew it had to be there somewhere!
Seems that everyone will need to phone and get through to their techie dept in order to add payees that were there on the old account. As stated earlier mention you have replaced the old account with a new one.

I've just got through to Tesco on the phone, what a faff as I don't like phoning 0845 numbers but I'm willing to pay 5p and use 18185 :D. Anyway, after going through several operators in several departments and acting dumb I got through to the right people in the end. Lovely girl knew exactly what I was talking about, deleted the original payee from Tesco's screen (which don't show up on customer's screen) and then waited on the phone while I went through the "add a payee" procedure to make sure it all went OK.

Up and running OK now, but if they know this is an issue why do we have to go through all this, why don't they get it sorted their end straight away or make sure the payees are transferred to the new account.

Has anyone got an 0800 or an 01 number for Tesco Internet Saver or Tesco Online as the numbers I've got take you through to the credit card people.

    0141 308 8028 was the number I used.
  • Thanks for the number Jem - I just used it & it worked straight away. My new account didn't show up in the account list, but I could see that £100 had gone from the account which was the amount I paid into the new one. I posted my form back from France last Thurs so they probably received it yesterday or today. I phoned the number you gave & had a very helpful Scottish lady. She said my old account would be closed and the balance plus any interest due would be transferred to the new account. I also asked whether existing payees would transfer and she said yes, so I'll check that in a couple of days. I think all of you who have already been through the process have alerted them to some issues which they need to resolve - so thank you for hopefully making the process easier for those that are following on!
  • Logged on today and balance on old account was showing as £0, so did what you have all kindly suggested and used Add an Account, and it all went across smoothly. All my existing payees went too - but I've not tried a transfer to a payee yet. Also there's no sign of any interest due having been paid yet. Have you all had interest paid up to closing date or are you still waiting? Thanks again everyone for all the advice

If your balance still shows as £0 and you can still see the account it sounds like it has not been fully closed yet. Once the account was closed it disappeared completely.
All my existing payees went too - but I've not tried a transfer to a payee yet.

As your existing account is still showing the payess would still show. I was able to use my payees on my new account before my old account was closed. It was only when the old account was fully closed that my payee problem arose.

Also there's no sign of any interest due having been paid yet. Have you all had interest paid up to closing date or are you still waiting?

I phoned to close the account on Wednesday evening. On Thursday the interest had been transferred to my new account but both accounts still visible. The person I spoke to said that the interest would be sent as a cheque - however I asked for it to be transferred if possible to my new account.

On Friday my old account disappeared and I then had to use the Add Account as my new account had also disappeared from view.
