Even if you just make stock with it and freeze you can always use it in the future. Mr HQ didn't care for it - but he loves asian style soups that you have at restaurants so I make them and he loves my soups now!!0

Hi there, glad the he enjoyed your soup in the end! Where on earth does he think that restaurants get their stock from! Using stock in things adds flavour - we even use it for rice and pasta sometimes!
I agree with the previous comments, don't tell him that you're being old style, tell him that you're trying out new recipes by diff big name chefs!
As far as leftovers are concerned, take them away before he notices what you are doing with them, or actually serve up a smaller meal, just what will get eaten, and pop the rest in ready meal silver foil cartons, you can tell him it's then ready for the days that there isn't time to cook! Can't beat HM ready meals, though they will taste different to him initially, unless you add loads of salt, sugar, garlic powder and various additives to your cookiing. Sometimes it can take a while to be weaned off the amount of salt that ready meals contain, so HM stuff can taste less flavoursome until you get used to not having salt.
If you write out a menu plan, you can incorporate your existing freezer full of ready meals into it to save money, and then gradually replace them with your own goodies that you've made yourself. Also ask him what he wants to see on the menu plan, as you've decided to become more organised and you want to make a shopping list! A plan and list can save you a fortune at the supermarket - well, it certainly saves me a lot of money!
As for ready made babyfoods, great if you're stuck when you're out and about with absolutely nothing else, but by giving the children what you are eating they will grow to like the same things as you, and believe me they will then not be fussy as they grow older. If your OH isn't convinced by this he surely only needs to look at the additives in babyfood, or compare the cost of a single carrot and potato with the cost of a jar of the organic stuff!
Good luck on your quest to provide an OS diet, you will get there, but it'll take time! Just think how long it can take to potty train children, or learn another language, these things don't happen over night, nor does taste bud reprogramming!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
fizzel81,
Welldone with out sounding patronising. It is all about baby steps. For some who have been OS for years it is just something you do with out really thinking.
Be it serve up leftovers or use stardrops for cleaning.
All the best.

Well done for keeping at it, you'll get there in the end. Try the carrot cake recipe from this board, that'll win him over! DP said it looked too professional for me to have made it, cheeky sod!Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0
