Why is the cinema so expensive?

  • I feel the need to update to confirm that Odeon Dunfermline is now £8.25 for a standard ticket?!?!?!?!?

Yikes...I think when I first visited the same cinema in 2004 it was £4.65 or something like that?!

Definitely now cheaper to get the Blu Ray!

They are abusing the fact that we all need to drive to Edinburgh if we want to go to another cinema

£8.25 for a standard ticket, is that even at off-peak times (ie weekday afternoons?)

Not happy with cinema ticket prices (£7), so signed up for Unlimited Cinema with Cineworld, £11.99 gets you all the movies you ever want, I have 3 Cineworlds within 20 miles of me (Glasgow, Falkirk, Edinburgh). My wife and I go every week now and think it's a total bargain!
My local cineworld advertises this but it's £13.50. Having said that, twice a month and you are already saving (I spent £7.10 watching Burke and Hare, which I thought really fabulous last night. My bloke gets in free because he has unlimited). However you do have to sign up for a year...

don't get me started, though, on the price of 'refreshments'.

there's also a Vue Cinema in Stirling (Extortionate prices) but a cheaper alternative (about half the price) is the cinema at the McRobert Centre at Stirling Uni... Not far from Dunfermline ( 20 - 30 minutes by car)... Allan Park cinema used to be good in Stirling also but it closed when the Vue opened, unfortunately....

Went to the cinema on Friday afternoon in London. it was one of the independent ones, and not the large multiplexes.
I paid £8.20 which i gather is reasonable for london! I think it was nearer £10 if you went after six!
I thought that the independants were supposed to be cheaper.
Was a great cinema though,- much nicer than my local cineworld, and a once in a while treat, as I was visiting a friend.
