    Dippychick -

THIS is precisely the danger of this thread - and why I personally don't take too much notice of the numbers. (By the way 5'7" - 10 stone, don't even care about BMI, so your fattist comments had better not be aimed at me!) People have posted (sometimes obvioulsy with embarrassment and trepidation) their BMI - which in itself is an indicator of size and the outcome has been those with a larger one have been insulted - both in a snide and an outright (and shocking in your case with the image) manner.

I think that dizziblonde actually said that she comfort-ate - I see that as a little different from over-eating (you will no doubt disagree) and her weight gain has been the result of many many factors. It has been insidious and over a long period of time; once a certain amount of weight gain has occurred, it can easily become a down-ward spiral of inaction, lethargy and depression. The weight gain and it's effects become the cause of more depression and a cycle of behaviour is the result.

It sounds to me as though she is doing the best she can at the moment - at least there's no mention of gastic band surgery on the NHS. What would you say to that?

You say that you find it offensive to see fat people and their various body parts on display; just be grateful you aren't in that position. Try standing next to someone who is vastly overweight - it might make you "look good".

Seriously, who cares if you want to see it or not.

It's a very underhand tactic to insult someone who is quite clearly distressed. That's how bullies operate.

It's sad that Dippychick's above post seems to allude to more posts of the same nature. Especially when we've all just compared handbags and made up. :(

You didn't do anything... did you?! :rotfl:

Are you trying to tell me I should steer clear of this one? Hhmm, you're probably right.

I hadn't seen what Dippychick had said but by the sounds of the following posts, it's good that it was taken down. I am not one to get involved in arguements but I really do feel for dizziblonde.
I've recently been going through a rough patch and have found myself comfort eating, I have put on weight and I know it. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember, but it isn't just through poor diet. On the whole my diet is good, but problems first arose when I was on antibiotics a couple of years ago. They made me gain weight despite eating properly and at the time not comfort eating.

Overall, people are overweight for any number of reasons (not just for over eating or poor diet). Mental health comes into it a lot, but also medication and illnesses, Things that people can't help. It might be easier said than done but you 'cant judge a book by its cover'.

Sorry just not true. irrespective of a good diet or not they are shovelling in more calories than they are burning. Simple as that
Who I am is not important. What I do is.

True. But then you have to address why a person is doing that, thus the point about mental health, medication etc...
