depends what you mean by contract i guess. i have done loads of contract work, but only ever got paid the same, or in many cases less, than those i was covering, or less than the job would pay if permanent. a lot of charities, or services funded by short term grants- goverment/ eu/ lottery whatever, often employ people on 1 or 2 year contracts at most.i've been a contractor for the past 7 years, you earn 40% plus than permanent staff.
never had an issue with getting a mortgage or any credit issues. a number of friends are contractors too and have never had issues either.
also there are masses of services running on cover/ sessional workers, well, thats what their contracts say they are, but in reality they can work one post for a year or more, but if for example, a lender wanted to see a contract it would state 'as and when' work onlyWe cannot change anything unless we accept it. maybe true - but it's like those people that live it up when they're younger, have lots of debts and buy a nice car.
then run back to live with their mother to sort themselves out.
they then complain that their in their mid to late 20s and can't afford to buy property and blame everyone else...
lot's of those on here aren't there David?:rolleyes:0 -

exactly my point - there are many different types of contractors, so saying contractor cannot get a mortgage is a bit extreme...
generalisations are very common on here, so is having a son at university burning a hole in your pcoket getting media studies degree... :rolleyes:0 -
There's temping, contracting and consulting. A world of difference in the pay available.depends what you mean by contract i guess.
Mind you the entry of India, Philippines, etc. into the various markets has blown a bit of a chill wind through even some of the upper levels of bullsh1t.0 -

It's not maybe true it IS true, not all contractors earn 40% on permanent staff.
