It implies that are not who you claim to be, and are an alias of a more regular poster. Although as your join date is 2006 that's a long time dormant in order to play the sockie game. Although I believe there is a thriving trade in acquiring old unused accounts in order to play the sockie game.

So difficult to draw any conclusions. First rule on here - if you disagree with someone - call them a sockie.

    • 14 percent of 16-25 work in banking, insurance and finance.
    • Nearly two-thirds of 16 year olds are employed in distribution, hotels and restaurants, compared to less than one in five 25 year olds.
    • Less than five percent of 16 year olds are employed in banking, finance and insurance, compared to just over one in five 25 year olds employed in the same sector. This is higher than the proportion of all workers employed in banking, finance and insurance, which is just over 15 percent.
    • Among 16 and 17 year olds who have left full-time education, 14 percent of young men work in manufacturing, compared to just six percent of young women. On student debt: I wonder how long it will be before students and ex students are saddled not just with their own debt, but that of their parents who 'bought' the family home on IO mortgages and / or mewed every penny out of it in order to send the sprog through the education system.

yep - i did. but not overly important for this thread.

so we agree that a student won't be able to buy property for quite a while then...

they can always move in with 'ma' to save money and pay off existing debts can't they

    Why not, it's a sensible option. :T

it's a geat opportunity that people should make the most of if they're able to.

maybe people shouldn't move out at such a young age as is happening and stay at home while they're working, pay down student debts if they have any and save for a deposit.

it may be difficult but would avoid many future complaints about not affording property.

Is the second rule on here - if you're losing an argument, call them a sockie?? :rotfl:

So are you saying the numbers of 16-24 year going in to higher education would be falling or decreasing in the recession.

I never lost any argument you have never commented on the numbers going up, you just made up some bull that I said "university's would be expanding"

    Call me a sockie:)

The 3rd rule is point out spelling mistakes instead of answering a question.:)

are 1 in 5 unemployed, as in actually on the dole, or 1 in 5 economically inactive (at college/ uni/ travelling etc)?

In Swindon the unemployment level for the under 26's is 1in 6.

There are numerous cases of young people already having been made redundant 2 or 3 times already in their working lives. As most major employers ( BMW, Zurich, Honda, Nationwide, MAN Truck & Bus etc), now employ contract staff. Not permanent employees. So every change in the wind means that staff can be laid off, rehired and laid off again. The lack of permanent work is becoming a major issue.
