I think it will be fine - self raising flour isn't common in the US, so it probably means plain (or all-purpose flour) :)

I couldn't find it in Germany either, but that might have just been me being thick.

Back from the ENT with dd(12) - bit cross really - last time she went we were told that the options were surgery or hearing aids so she talked herself into accepting hearing aids but now neither are an option and she is being referred to a hearing therapist. Mr Caring Sharing's contribution was to arrive late and stressed, tell all concerned that things are much better in walthamstow where he lives and remind everyone that we are both taxpayers :confused::confused: I will pop over to the disability and dosh board in a bit and find out about applying for ... well ... whatever there is.

Not feeling very OS so have had a bit of a splurge in town with dd(20) - i did mostly confine my retail therapy to Poundland mind you

Bitsy - yikers - the expense!

I daren't ask, but I bet he has!

Stef - I hope DD's hearing problems are sorted out soon - it must be so annoying for her, and you.

Bitsy - I hope you are recovering from your weevil attack. I've got a bay tree in my garden and I've just put a couple of leaves into my flour tin (which is one of the old white and navy enamel ones). So far, I've never had a problem with the flour, but having heard about how much you've had to throw out, I thought I'd better take precautions.

Thanks for the bay leaf suggestion.

I must tell you, I've just prepared the Navarin of Lamb from last night's Economy Gastronomy and it smells and tastes delicious. I shall serve it with salad left over from last night's dinner, and new potatoes. I had a bit of clearing-up session after prepping it, but I'm sure it will be worth it. Will let you all know what it tastes like!

Afternoon all. I had a major set of the giggles last night you know the type when you think you have finished and then just start up again! Bit silly really.

We were watching the meteors or round here the clouds! Anyway just before I went to sleep I opened the window to see if the sky had finally cleared and said - quite loudly, 'Oh just give me one and I can go to sleep.' My Dh was standing behind me trying to see the sky, too. It wasn't for about 10 seconds that I realised what I had said. I do hope no neighbours were sleeping with the window open!!

Happy Birthday Elona and Miss N9eav

Miolere agree about the abuse button I have nearly reported myself whilst editing!! I think this needs a suggestion for moving.

    Afternoon all,

Happy birthday Elona and Ms N9eav.

Not long back from a long, chatty lunch with the lovely Caterina...we got on like a house on fire and felt as if we'd known each other for ever....will post the picture when I learn how!

DD4 in charge of dinner to-day, roast lamb with roast potatoes and mixed veg....have already had a large meal with Caterina but that never stopped me before from having another big meal!

Going to do a little decluttering in my wardrobe later on, have to find something (that fits) to wear on Saturday so might as well dump what I don't wear any more.

Hugs to all in need or want

    Whats All-Purpose :confused::D:rotfl:

Plain flour in my American cookbook is referred to as all-purpose flour :) I had to get an American work collegue to translate it for me :D

M - You may want to ask around as there are methods to make it look like you are in the UK, maybe a small charge but could be good for you. PM me if you want more info.

Had a lovely trip over to Bolton, and back via Woodhead, Stocksbridge, then decided to go to Wakefield (to check out caravans for DNephew) and the views on the nn-motorway route were brill, places we either had never been too (rare that locally) or had not been in years and years. Lunch was a bar of chocolate so will do tea now.

glad the appointment went OK, and hope the short visit does too.

Bitsy - I found them in my cupboard in Spain when I returned last autumn, they were in spaghetti (they had eaten half the round off and were runing up and down like a motorway too), so check that out, storage jars over there now too. Still itch when I think and look a while to look spaghetti in the face again.

    Afternoon all!

Happy birthday Elona and Ms N9eav - hope you both have a super duper day!

Cleared kitchen, well sort of, made a start! Surfaces and window sill looking much better! Scrubbed utility out, much to the dog's horror! dd3 hoovered, done pots, washing, made bread, pizzas, lemon drizzle cake and sausage rolls!

Had friend round for picnic lunch and gossip with her girls, very nice and much laughter from all!

Now having a quiet five mins and going to read my book, just meant to be sorting out pooter, charger wire is bent and a bit hit and miss so everything has needed rebooting as it keeps shutting down and generally going a little doolally! All sorted now though and new lead ordered - bargain on Amazon, £13.99 as opposed to the £69 that PC World were asking!

Also going to browse my copy of Good Food, getting bored cooking the same stuff all the time, and getting tired of the same old menu plans, so hoping for some inspiration!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day xx

    Afternoon all

Happy birthday to everyone celebrating, sorry not had chance to read back yet.

Been a fairly nice day here today, warm but cloudy now, think we are forecast rain for the weekend.

Day off work so pottered round the shops this a.m. - went in loads of charity shops book hunting!:D

Been batch cooking this afternoon, lasagnas, bolognaise sauce, chilli and cottage pie cooling now ready to freeze. We are having lasagna, salad and garlic bread for tea - my DD's absolute favourite:D

We are off in the caravan this weekend, can't wait but hope the weather is not too bad.

    Have a good evening all
