My velvet dress has just arrived
I am insanely pleased with it, shame the weather wont permit me to wear it today *pouts*0 -
Afternoon gang!
Very well done on the internship, Minerva and on the blog, GrammarGirl!! Glad you had a fantastic birthday, Mrs Ryan - whaddya mean by getting old at 29?? You're still a child!
What type of boots are you after, Claire? Perhaps us fashionistas can help out.
Despite being woken at 6am by torrential rain it's actually turned out to be a beautiful day now. Walked into town for my aquasize class and trawled the charity shops (somewhat fruitlessly today). Been hit on and papped by lots of random men today - can only assume it's beacause my trilby is obscuring my face.
This afternoon will be spent photographing for eBay listing after I've wrapped last night's sales ready for the PO run. Got my eye on a lovely dress that finished later, have submitted a cheeky snipe - wish me luck!
Today's outfit:
TopShop grey wash Baxter skinny jeans (Car boot £1)
TopShop ribbed black vest (Car boot buy)
"Decadent Warrior" cardi - love the name (Sample £2)
Vintage tan high heeled gladiator boots (Vintage market £5)
Emerald green cropped jacket with elbow length sleeves and massive single button (Autograph via Car Boot sale £2, swapped the original button for a vintage one)
Black angora trilby hat (River Island via Car Boot 50p)
Stacks of brass and wood bangles plus wooden rings (Car boots)
Gold hoop earrings with multicoloured wooden beads (50p Salvation Army)
Oversized 1950's gold framed bag in black cotton with yellow rose print (Car Boot 20p)
Enjoy your day!!

Thank you all so much, you're very kind! Alexnikov, all I can say is I know the benefits of soft lighting! :rotfl:
Goanmad, great news about the hip, and Minerva, well done on the paid internship! They're hard to come by so you must've impressed them.
Claire, I've just bought two new pairs of boots - some flat slouchy suede ankle boots from ASOS (£26) and some gorgeous Nine West leather heeled shoe boots from eBay (£22). ASOS have 25% off some of their boots at the moment if you have a look there? Hope you find some.
As for my outfit... well, you might just have to wait 'til I update my blog later!0 -
zip: can you find saftey pin in the office or nearby? or, is ther a button at the top? If so a treasury tag might hold it for today....fold th tag in have and push the thread bit through the tiny hole at the end of the zip, then pull so you have a bit of a loop, put both ends through the loop and pull tight then slip the ends through the button hole with the botton.
(hve done far too many temporary repairs)0 -
Thanks for the tips about my zip, have secured it to the button with a paper clip for now!! May replace it, will have a proper look later.
Boots!! Well I've tried lots on, and looked at lots too. What I'm after is something to wear with leggings really, and casual skirts. Have a lovely pair of smart black heeled ones, so something different to this!
These are some of the ones I'm watching or have missed out on on Ebay, or have tried on IRL:

Sorry the links are huge!!!!0 -
Claire have you tried New Look, they had a massive selection of boots in last weekend, and on the website, ranging in price from 25-60ish I believe.
After these ones myself..http://www.newlook.co.uk/1752723/175272324/ProductDetails.aspx0 -
I was supposed to be photographing but the batteries all need recharging so I've had a general scout around and reckon these would look good with leggings and skinny jeans:

Excellent news about the internship Minerva - which company is it with?
It's the one I'm doing at the moment, with an NHS trust (I've been here almost four months now).
Claire, re: boots - Peacocks have a nice brown biker-style pair that would look good dressed up or down for £28: http://www.peacocks.co.uk/Womenswear/Footwear/Boots/BROWN_SQUARE_TOE_BIKER_BOOTS_-44700070.html"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

I would ask for a link but unfortunately my work internet doesn't like eBay..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
