Morning!
I really need to buy some bangles & necklaces. It's my birthday on Saturday and dh is taking me out for lunch and shopping. I'm really looking forward to it, so have been avidly reading the forum for ideas.
Today I'm wearing:

Need to get into the habit of accessorising............0 -

What do you guys wear in the wind and rain? Have a great day everyone! xx
Aaaah, I hate the rain! Wind and rain combined is a nightmare. I tend to stick a beanie hat/beret over my hair, when it gets colder I'll keep one in my bag at all times for emergency purposes! :rotfl:
Claireac, Primark are great for bangles. They always have big chunky wooden ones and skinny metal ones in loads of finishes and colours. That would be my first port of call!
Not quite dressed yet, OH and I are heading to the seaside today so will be dressing for warmth and comfort rather than fashion! Will update later.0 -
Sorry if this has already been posted, but has anyone who can remember wearing the 80's fashion first time round been into Matalan in the last couple of days?! It was like looking at my wardrobe as a new wife & mum 20-odd years ago!! Lots of electric colours, drapey jersey tops, drainpipe stonewash & bleached jeans, a few "new romantic" frills & shoulder pads, leggings......
I have to admit it was really quite scary!
Haven't been in Matalan but wandered into River Island last month and was horrified to discover that they'd relaunched some 1980's Chelsea Girl clothing complete with the original labels. _pale_
I was 14 in 1980 and hated massive shoulder pads, acid wash denim, neon, pointy shoes, plastic beads and most of the hideous music. We used to call the people into all that nonsense "townies".
I spent most of the decade in customised vintage dresses and 12 hole Doc Martens listening to The Smiths and The Cure and generally being a "weirdo".
My 1980's gear sells like hot cakes on eBay so you and I must be in the minority, Floss!
Anyway, I'm eBaying this morning, nipping off to Pilates and a few lengths of the baths later and hopefully booking a flight to Tamil Nadu ! :j
My decidedly casual attire this fine sunny day is:
New Look organic cotton purple leggings (£3 in the sale)
Navy jersey vest dress with cyclamen paisley embroidered on the back (Car boot sale)
Single silver bangle on each arm - so I don't rattle (India)
Indian silver rings
Purple hand made glass earrings (from a student exhibition 50p)
Jade carved Buddha pendant set in silver on silver snake chain (India)
Black rubber flip flops (India)
Canvas tote bag with picture of Indian dancing girl (India)
Have a lovely wednesday, gang!0 -
Not the greatest this morning, went to the docs and the CMHT have apparently refused to help me, which has made me feel pretty bad!! Ho hum, on with life..
Anyways, outfitwise, I changed a few times before work and still not feeling comfortable with my choice, but was in a rush so it had to do..
New look skirt with ditsy floral print in pinks and blues, on a white b/g..£20ish??
Black leggings, wardrobe staple!!
Teal basic tshirt, H&M so about 4.99 I should think..
Black glitter thread boyfriend cardi, Topshop..
Pink leopard print flats, Irregular Choice Betsy..Ebay, can't remember but have worn them so much they were worth it!!
Pink rose on hairband, Topshop £8
Various bracelets and bangles, in pearls, pinks and pale blues, some homemade..
Long chain necklace with bows and charms and a tiny blue teddy bear, Topshop
Could do with something to cheer me up today, its my sister's last day at work with me before she's off to Uni, so I'm a bit down about that, and the news at the docs as well..bad times!0 -

:grouphug:Piratefairy, sorry your day hasn't started well. Was it you that mentioned prescription costs the other day? Would it be worthwhile you getting a quarterly 'season ticket' for prescriptions next payday? (Especially as we're approaching the winter?). Try and find some little MSE-style treats for yourself today. I am a firm believer in be-kind-to -yourself days at times like this!
Chelsea Girl. Ha ha! Remember it well! Back in the seventies most of their stuff only seemed to go up to a size 14!! Over that and you had to go and buy the clothes your mum wore from British Home Stores. Good incentive though!
Back to work today after an unheard-of 2 and a half weeks off:eek:. So straight into my boring work clothes today.
Have been reading the house clothes thread with interest. Think leggings and long tops are going to be my-round-the-house gear this winter. Need to feel warm, comfy and activated enough not to want to cling to the fireside! Leggings being more body-con than sloppy joggers...less scope for extra pounds sneaking in there unnoticed! Picked up a BNWT long sleeved tunic top in the chazza shop yesterday....everything in SueRyder was half price, so got it for less than £2 and bright pink to cheer up the gloomy days ahead!
Heard one assistant saying they were struggling for winter stock cos everyone was clearing out their summer wardrobes and the charity shops had no space to store it til next year, so could be some bargains! I got a very good quality lined swirly white linen knee length skirt, with sequins and other sparkly bits on for £2. Lovely for beach holidays with a simple white top and flip flops. Was it B&T who said she always bought from ebay out of season?
Have a good day everyone! :dance:0 -
