I nearly bought a t-shirt with his face on in matalan the other day, untill i pulled myself together, i'm on a no buying clothes and can a 32 year old mum of four really pull off a t-shirt with her fave 80's popstar??? ANSWERS PLEASE!!!
Well, I think the embargo on new clothes puts the kybosh on that one, sadly. However, in a purely theoretical sense there is absolutely no reason in the world why you should not only be able to pull it off, but do it with the kind of style that The Purple One would approve of. I am 31 and I have a couple of 'muso' t-shirts - one with Deborah Harry on and one with Metallica. I tend to dress them up a bit when I wear them. The Debbie one, for example, is black and white so it gets a thin scarf (usually a red one) and I often wear a pinstripe jacket over the top of it, with some dark blue jeans.Doesn't everyone own something they'd never ever ever wear out in public?
Absolutely. I've got scruffy combats for doing the vacuuming and old t-shirts which either end up as dusters or I wear for the gym. Also, until recently I had a load of old clothes that I bought when I was 23 that I kept kidding myself I could still get away with. But I slung most of it out (well, charity shop drop-off) - no point living in the past. None of it fitted anyway!
Anyway, today's outfit:
Obscenely ripped jeans - D&G (ahem - not living in the past here or anything but I love them so much and I've lost loads of weight so I can get into them again!)
Red t-shirt - Gap
Yellow trainers - Adidas"I'm not a one-trick pony. I'm not a ten-trick pony. I'm a whole field of ponies - and they're all literally running towards this job."
An utter berk, 2010.0 -
Irregular Choice bird and tree pattern pumps - ebay

Yay, they have the same ones in Schuh and I think I'm going to save up for some more as they are fabby!!
Also, I vote hats over no hats!! I love them, although can only reeaaalllyy get away with beret types as I do have a largish head..but often seen rocking the sequin beret look, and they are one of the good things about autumn/winter IMO.
Today I'm feeling uninspired, was up making birthday cakes all last night and cards, and really sleepy now..
New Look navy blue floral tes dress, via ebay, cant remember how much.
Purple footless tights, Primark, £1 (inspired by GrammarGirl to lose the black leggings!!)
Black sparkly oversize cardi, Topshop< £25, worn to death almost!
Dark pinky-purple pearly beads, H&M, so not much...
Boring New Look black flat pumps, as my feet are still recovering..£12
Back in heels tomorrow tho!! Can't wait.0 -
Oh dear, I've just been looking on the Schuh website.
Must. not. buy. more. shoes.0 -
re slobby house clothes, I've decided anything that was acquired years ago and has holes in it doesn't count.
eg I frequently wear evening dresses that have become stained/damaged, with socks and a cardi around the house. DH and I, when we didn't camp with my parents, dressed for supper most nights, but this included putting some pretty weird combinations of clothes on. I forgive myself the palomino t shirt.

Hello, can I join you. I lurk on Old Style a lot.
I work from home 70% of the time but find when I do I just slouch around the house all day in trackies and hoodies. I've decided I am going to get dressed everyday to try and lift a bit of depression
Today
Black sweater dress (new look sale about £7 I think)
Black leggings (ancient, no idea how much!)
Little pearl stud earings (accesorize I think, they came in a set)
And when I went to the corner shop and the local BHF:
Red mac (Primark £15ish, but I've changed the buttons)
Black patent pumps (Primark about £4)
Feel better for being dressed already (might try and lose some of the black though!):beer:0 -

Really really want to set up a clothes swap party..
Had signed up ages ago to that whatsmineisyours site, but never really got anywhere with it, as ppl seemed to be listing things at way over the acutal value, I assume in order ot get more for them..
But I love the concept..It's on the list.0 -
Hello all and a big :hello:to the newbies, nice you could join us!
I'm very casual today - got up early and hung out two loads of washing 'cos the sun's out, baked some flapjacks and then got carried away listing lots of stuff on eBay so had to run down to road to my pilates class.
Any more eBaying's been thwarted this afternoon 'cos Auctiva's down for maintenance.
Today its:
Purple and grey silk hareem pants (80p from India)
Vintage Ramones teeshirt (5p jumble sale)
Peacock feather choker (India)
Handmade purple glass stud earrings (50p from a student selling her creations)
Indian silver bangles and rings
Leather gladiators (£3 from India)
Purple silk hobo bag with silver embroidered peacock design (about £2 in India)
RainyWednesday- Like you, I work from home and force myself to make an effort every day. Having a postman whose an ex is a bit of a spur 'cos I'd hate him to think I'd let myself go, even though I went out with him over 20 years ago!0
