    Hello!
I'm going to start a petition for more hours in the day, I've not been able to keep up with anything lately.
I've really been thinking about clothes recently, I've realised I just can't put an outfit together which is funny because people come to me for styling advice! My thing has always been to wear lots of black things, preferably a skirt or dress and maybe one thing in a colour. It obviously works though because I'm always being told I look well put together. I'm definitely feeling the need to change a bit though, I think wearing too much black looks a bit old-fashioned although I still love it. I want to experiment a bit with matching and mismatching colours. I'm considering doing a 'no black' challenge for a week but I'm not too sure that would work in my wardrobe! Hmmm...just musing out loud.

Today for work in the charity shop I wore black skinnies, a purple and black striped batwing tunic (size 20 and it fits me fine and I'm a 16, George sizing is really off sometimes), black cardi-coat, black fringed cowl and sheepskin ankle boots.

    Afternoon, gang!

    Hope everyone's well and happy.

Judgejaq: Great colour choice on the VW's.
Vicki - love your jewellery display board - my collection's in serious danger of pulling down the dressing table what with my penchant for ridiculously oversized pieces.
Lostinrates - Please start a blog...I was a bit on the shy about photos of myself at first (what being the wrong side of 40 and all that).
Caroline - sorry for making you look in Dottie P's! It's certainly improved since the 80's when it was the frumpy girls' shop of choice.
Alex - Great news about the weightloss and good luck with the fitting!
Daisy - Love the brace-face photo - if anyone can carry it off with style it's you.

I must confess to a sales shopping frenzy this week - I've picked up some great pieces at crazy prices although I'm not too sure when I'm going to wear my gunmetal sequinned hareem pants - Glastonbury, Big Chill, next gig, popping down the local for a pint of cider.... (but at £4 how could I resist?).

Today's outfit is up on the blog:
Turquoise lampshade mini skirt (River Island)
    Vintage Ramones Teeshirt (Jumble sale)
Skinny scarf with tin sequins (Jumble sale)
    Black opaques
Black high-heeled ankle boots (Miss Selfridge)
Silver bangles, rings and hoop earrings (India)

Have a fab friday night - off to crack open my Xmas Havana Club rum.
    Goan
    xxx

I have a pair of trousers from George that really depress me. :(

wih regards to black, instead of no black, what about a colour every day challenge, which can draw on your black basics.

e.g. black trousers and a red top.

    All black with yellow accessories.

Black and camel is very chic. My mother bought a dress earlier in the year that is black with colour blocks of red, orange and a strong yellow: it reminds be of Barcelona :) it just feels warm and spanish to me. Black and Sciaparelli pink is fun, black and a zingy fresh green is brave and fresh.....

I think that wuld be the most comfortable way to challenge your dress style, and the most MSE style to increase your wardrobe. :)

It's mad sometimes isn't it? I have a pair of size 22 trousers from there that have never fitted, and still won't fasten, despite me being quite clearly a size 18 now.

I decided to join in with the jewellery photos :) So here is my box of necklaces and here are some of my earrings and bangles. The earrings are kept in a handy little wooden Ikea stacker thing - I could do with another one now I think. And a random photo of Oscar here as he's keeping me company this evening :D

Also, as I'm feeling moderately brave this evening, here is a photo of today's outfit. Clearly I'm not brave enough to post an unblurry pic but it's a start :rotfl:

most of my jewellery lives on this (or in a mirrored set of drawers, or a cake stand)

Alex you look lovely! Try for a bit less blur next time =)
Lir - I can do the black with one colour, it's wearing colours together I struggle with, I just don't seem to have the vision or imagination. I have a few skirts with more than one colour (lilac and silver velvet panel skirt for example) and I still just wear them with black! It's my style I suppose but I see other people doing colour and I want a piece of it. Last week my friend wore a pair of purple tights with purple shoes which didn't quite match, it looked great but I would be physically incapable of that. I quite like the idea of using grey as my base colour rather than black as I think it goes with any colour but it can look dull if you're not careful.
