Lostinrates - that so sounds like my mum! It's like an 80's timewarp in her bedroom.
Vicki - hope you find your boots, sound fab.
Min- Hope the ball was a success. What did you wear?

I'm in a mad panic - BA are now on strike from 22nd Dec through to 2nd Jan - no holiday for me! I'm frantically searching the net for comparable flight deals and BF's tying to get a refund....arghhhhh!

Oh no, that sounds awful! Hope you find something *sends flight finding force*

I wore the dress I had as a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding - it's a chocolate brown, strapless mid calf prom style dress (fitted bodice then flared out waist), with a brown satin sash with a little brown flower brooch on it that ties loosely round the waist. I also had pale brown peep toe slingbacks with a little rosette thing on them and a feathery brown shrug that tied at the front.

It was a really good night - nice dinner, good company, lots of dancing and really good fun. I haven't had a proper night out like that for some time and really enjoyed it.

That's terrible. I heard a snippet on the radio before........is that definite across the board strike action?

Well done on the weight loss Alex, that's amazing. You must feel absolutely fabulous - not to mention looking it too!

Goan - love the pics. Looks like you all had an absolute ball. You must be demented though over the BA strike - hope you manage to get some replacement flights sorted.

Min, that outfit sounds lovely, but you always sound so wonderfully coordinated.

LiR - hope you're feeling better now. I had something similar last weekend and pretty much spent two days in or near the bathroom. Dreadful!

Daisyb, what a nice gesture - pity you were rewarded with a big fat needle!

Well, it's back at work for me this week, for a few days at least, and what a horrible day! Grey, grim and wet. Had to get up early this morning and just threw on the nearest clean things, so currently wearing asymetric charcoal grey tshirt, boyfriend jeans, black CAT biker boots.

I desperately need a hair cut at the moment - I'm hoping the girl who does it can fit me in in my lunchbreak tomorrow or Wed. Think I might go for something slightly different but no idea what.

Thanks all! Apparently 95% of the cabin crew voted for action.

At the moment we're in a state of limbo. When we spoke to BA earlier the idiot on the switchboard said there wasn't going to be any disruption and therefore we wouldn't be refunded and credit card company suggested we sit tight until 2 days before we are due to fly in case the action is called off.
Now the BA website says they will change any flights free of charge but I can't get through on the phone. Luckily we're both flexible with dates but have paid up front for airport parking and arranged cat-sitters. There's worse things that could happen and we'll get a holiday in the end, I suppose.

Min- I echo Judgejaq, you always sound wonderfully put-together and co-ordinated and I bet the brown dress really stood out from the inevitable black numbers.

No great finds at Mum's, unless you're into Wombles and Tiny Tears dolls - too grubby to stick on eBay!

At least you won't be losing TOO much goan - would the CC company refund you if all else fails? It must be really upsetting when you've been looking forward to it so much.
    minerva your outfit sounds lovely.

    Today's outfit -

black polo neck (£2 charity shop)
black and white spotty mock-wrap dress (£4 charity shop)
black legggings (home made about £2)
black leather biker boots (Tesco £28)
and plenty of make up as I'm going through one of my trowel-it-on phases!

doing this is making me realise just how much black and purple I wear, it is also making me think more about how I dress, I guess that's partly the idea. There's been quite a bit of 'I can't POSSIBLY wear that, I'll have to TELL people' going on. I have a huge tendency to dress like a flamenco dancing hippy-goth and at 6' and 42 I'm not sure it's a good look!

    Enjoy your day everyone

goanmad - really hope you manage to get it all sorted out as easily as possible. I am terrible at coping with changing travel plans!

Oh girls, look at the effect you've had on me. I am wearing a belt. A belt! I never ever wear belts! (and yes I realise this sounds fairly demented but what the hell) Quite a daring outfit allround by my tame standards.

Forest green v neck jumper which is now enormous, worn as a jumper dress - Dotty P's
Brown plaited leather belt to hitch it up a bit - dunno, it's lurked in a drawer for a long long time.
    Black leggings - Dotty P's
Brown studded ankle boots - M&S
Wooden beaded necklace - not sure
Chunky cream bangle with peacock feather print on it - Shared Earth shop in Leeds

Hope everyone has a fab day :D

    Morning girlies,
Alex- I don't wear belts often, or rather, they dont stay on for long!

Feeling a bit wobbly on my feet this morning, so have only just got dressed, and only then because I have to pop out,
I'd rather get back in bed with my book and kitty!

    Wearing:
Thermal camisole: Uniqlo (found this lurking in a drawer!)
Black 1/2 sleeve mini dress: New Look ages ago
Tartan tights: River Island (and were majorly reduced)
Black buckle detail flat ankle boots: Dorothy Perkins.
  • Thanks everyone! I was a bit uncertain about it because in my head it's linked with the wedding and so feels a bit 'bridesmaidy' to me, but I got loads of compliments so reckon it was the right choice.

I'm back in work today, and today's outfit is:

    - Pink short sleeve top with frilly sleeves (Miss Selfridge)
    - Black cardigan with three quarter sleeves (H&M)
    - Pink and gold brocade-look tulip skirt (Dorothy Perkins)
    - Black tights (M&S)
    - Black ankle boots with stud detail (New Look)
    - Black military style flared jacket (New Look) to come into work
    - Multicoloured stripey scarf, beanie hat and mittens (Accessorize) to come into work
    - Brown leather handbag (21st birthday present from parents)
    - Usual jewellery (birthday/Christmas/graduation presents from parents and boyfriend)

Hair is tied back in a ponytail with a gold band, perfume is Body Shop Aqua Lily (the end of the bottle, at last!), and no nail polish.

In work until around fiveish, then home to do job stuff and chill out.

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Morning all, can't see an end to this rain here. I'm going to need my wellies at this rate!

I'm having one of those days where I'm sure it would have better just to stay in bed. Was all dressed in grey wide legged trousers, 70s green shirt with little haunted houses on, waistcoat, sitting having a cup of tea before I left for work when I sneezed, didn't have time to put my cup down and ended up with a soggy shirt and trousers.

So now wearing jeans and black a-line longish jumper with 3/4 sleeves, CAT short biker boots (which are actually off and under my desk atm).
