Oh I kinda miss havign an advent calender, although I always wanted one of those ones with the tiny present drawers / pockets rather than a boring chocolate one..Myabe I'll get chance to make one, ready for next yr..Or there's always the Jan sales..
Hmm, today has been a really quiet day, as the phones are out of order..
Today's outfit is as on the blog, new look heart print tea dress, black waist belt, cardi and leggings, green chunky knit scarf, and irregular choice peanuts boots..
ooh, i had my eye on daisy's fab carousel necklace!! grr, but glad to hear you loved it, LIR0 -
Afternoon, gang! What a beautiful sunny day.
I'm such a goddamn freak - I can't stand Xmas and don't particularly like chocolate either. Father Christmas was waving at me in town today - I just wanted to run away. I'm just glad it's December, that means it's nearly my birthday and I'm going on holiday this month...yipee!
Been swimming, charity shopping and creating today (plus entering Daisy's great giveaway) and BF's busy in the kitchen making a channa massala for tea and wrapping presents.....:j
Today's outfit is uploaded on my blog and is:
Gold satin brocade dress (Market)
Turquoise Urban Outfitters tights (Car boot)
Black lace tights (Ancient)
TopShop Bardot taupe platform boots (TS sale years ago)
Brass, wood and turquoise bangles (Car boot/presents)
Aztec disc earrings (TopShop via car boot)
TopShop red and turquoise pendant
Wood and gold rings
Enjoy the rest of your tuesday!0 -
I love chocolate, but only really good chocolate...and I'm dieting so chocolate for me. I also love christmas and my (non-Christian) husband ADORES Christmas and would like to have it every weekend. This year however, we're havign some difficulty getting over excited. I think its harder with no kids about...my nieces live miles away and we won't see them, and they are getting a bit serious anyway, not little anymore.
So we're having a very quiet christmas. TBH, if I were in London I'd be volunteering this christmas, there is nothing advertsing for volunteers close enough for me to get to after animls in the morning and before them in the afternoon. We do usually have guests at christmas (people too far from home/family or on their own usually, but...I'm just less inspired this year.
Maybe it will kick in soon0 -
I'm an atheist and we've stayed with an Indian family over Xmas for many years. The Christians in India observe it as a religious festival, spending time with their families (but not exchanging gifts) and going to church which is, in my opinion, the true meaning of Christmas.
Over here very few people go to church and get really stressed and heavilly into debt just for convention's sake. I understand that people enjoy getting time off work but with me having no kids (and not knowing any either) it's not something I can muster up any enthuasiasm for.
I'm no killjoy, I enjoy life all the time so I'm at a loss to understand why one day of the year should be any more exciting than the other 364.0 -
I've just been helping Mum finish off some of her shopping,
idk
I love Christmas in a way, but hate how over-commercialised it's become (I've kept my shopping minimal this year and gone for handmade as much as possible)
I'd rather spend the day with family and friends than swap tons of presents and stuff down loads of food.0 -
Completely agree, I'm totally sick of it already this year, and it's only the 1st0

I normally love Christmas, but I do hate how early it starts and how competitive it is - although I don't know if that's just me making it competitive in my head...
I do like the spending time with my family elements of it though."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

Not at all. I just think the presents stuff is a massive headache - I hate being asked what I want (so far all I have thought of is perfume and pyjamas, because it's rude to say 'money for my savings account to keep me going when I move to London') and I hate buying stuff for other people. Not in a Scrooge-like way but I just worry that either people won't like what I get them or that I'll look cheap because I can't afford really fancy expensive presents.
Honestly, take the shopping out of the equation, and I'd love it."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Was just on phone with DH and he had a great idea for us..perhaps help all we swanky dressers feel a it more Christmassy? the effort to do something small extra to help someone every day of advent. No pointin us all making an effort to look good unles we are BEING good too.
Perhaps we can aim for a stylish halo accesory for the festive season?
I won't even think that this might be quite a self serving suggestion from DH0
