Mischa- I get the same reaction where I live sometimes, in a very small town. I think your outfit sounds lovely
and style is a personal thing. If you feel good, then that is what matters :)

    Ok, finally decided.

    Wearing:
Vintage blue, pink, green (jewel) tone floral skirt with white trim
    Black sheer polka dot top
    Black tights
    Black flats

Doesn't sound like it should work, but it kinda does :o

HB- what kind of clothes would you wear on a day to day basis? It's hard to take a random stab in the dark, although a pretty dress pretty much suits all occasions in my book!

For work usually smart-ish trousers with fitted shirt and/or jumper/cardigan, and outside of work mainly jeans with different types of tops depending on where i'm going... don't wear skirts or dresses that often apart unless i'm going somewhere special.

I thought I should wear a dress, just not sure what type or where would be best to find a new one at the mo. Will probably be pretty cold out by then and no idea what the church is like, and we're going for a proper Sunday lunch afterwards. Have a couple of dresses that I've worn to weddings that I wondered about but not sure if they would be a bit OTT and I'd need to wear something underneath or a cardigan over but not sure I've got anything suitable apart from maybe a black cardigan that I don't really want to wear!

HB - I think I nice dress would be great. I also think a black cardie is ideal for over the top, why don't you want to wear it? A pretty tea dress, cardie, nice tights and shoes/boots.

Mischa - Daisybella is right, you should wear what you're comfortable and happy in!

    Today I'm wearing:
purple marl fitted short sleeved knitted top - Primark
grey straight high waisted skirt - Primark £13
grey skinny belt - from skirt, but over the top
fitted black cardie - my trusty Laura Ashley one!!
lacy black tights - out of the back of my drawer, you've inspired me girls! Off to buy some coloured ones tomorrow. Lacy tights nearly gave dh a coronary lol :D
black mary janes - DP sale £15

Very glad it's Friday!! Looking for to a Halloween party tomorrow for the kids (& mummy's) at my friends house and pumpkin carving with my dd tomorrow. She really understands all the fun this year.

Mainly because it's old and worn to death! And don't really want to wear black. But good to have as a backup option, there's nothing wrong with it really!

Morning ladies! Lovely outfits as usual - I've just looked in my (full to bursting) :D wardrobe and sighed I havent got a thing to wear! :rotfl:

    Finally decided on:

Black cotton suit trousers (Big is Beautiful in Newcastle)
Funky Union Jack print socks (£1.50, 2 pairs, Primark in Lincoln)
and for a change, my hot pink and white Reeboks.

Usual accessories (beaded and silver link bracelet and silver ring) and perfume is CKone.

Have a good day everyone - Im off to finish my Xmas shopping!

  • Have been hiding on here for quite a while now.

Am currently living at the inlaws. Have been there nearly 5 months now :O Was supposed to be a temporary thing until our new build house was ready in September. But then they changed the move in date to 'sometime in November'. So have been stuck living out of a suitcase, filled with largely summer stuff! And havent felt inspired by my outfit choices enough to write about them!

But last weekend was my 21st birthday, and my mum treated me to a shopping trip, and got alot of lovely wintery things and today is the first day in a long time I feel happy enough to write about my outfit!

Black draped tulip skirt with tiny white 'splotches' - Primark reduced to £5 from £11
Black long sleeved cottom top with button detail on the cuff - Primark £4
2 pairs of black opaque tights(wanted to wear leggings but couldnt find them and too cold for just one pair!) primark £4 park of 5
Red cotton boyfriend cardigan - Primark £10
Flat black boots - Matalan a few years ago, need a new pair desperately!
Black and gold thin waist belt - Primark £3
Black and Gold vintagey looking necklace - 21st birthday pressie, from accessorize i believe.

Yes, I do like Primark. Classic basics and quirky peices. Dont think you will ever find me in the sequin dresses or wet look leggings though!

Sorry for the essay, just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone for their inspiring outfit choices and blogs!

Hi HB , I think a dress would be nice for a Christening, but do you know what style of dress the other guests are going for , what's the mum wearing? I was a guest at a christening where the mum and godmums were all in long dresses almost like bridesmaids..it was the summer though. How posh will it be? Is it a big hats do?

For a simple Autumn christening and a trad Sunday lunch, I think either a sweater dress, dressed up with tights, shoes with a heel , smart clutch bag and some bling would be nice. Personally wouldn't do black at a christening! Or there are lots of just-above-the-knee tunic dresses around, similarly dressed up.

There are lots around and not too expensive. you can wear them again more casually with leggings, opaques, boots etc and I always think sweater dresses are perfect for Xmas Day.

This tunic one looks warm and easy to wear and can be easily dressed up or down too

  • HB81 - got to say I agree with Daisybella, I'm a huge fan of dresses. If you don't want to wear black, do you have a Primark near you? Or something similar there are a million little cardigans out there at the moment? Or a nice blazer over a dress if you want something more 'smart' for standing in the front of the church and keeping warm? With a little broach or corsage to 'soften' it? Or maybe a corsage to cheer up the black cardie you have already?

And Mischa, wear what you like. It sounds fantastic

    Me today:
Light grey 'convertable' A line dress worn like this http://www.americanapparel.net/morephotos/viewer.asp?style=rsa8339&n=Cotton%20Spandex%20Jersey%3Cbr%3EBandeau%20Dress&p=1# £28 American Apparel (these are my favourite dresses in the world, I have 5 different colours - amazing to dress up and down)
Belted round the waist with a scarf I've had for years which is cream and khaki green with flashes of a peachey pink on it - charity shop years ago
    Pinky/reddy round neck cardigan - £5 Primark
    black tights
little CND pendant necklace - Accesorize £8ish

So pleased with this outfit I think I'm going to wear it out tonight :)
    with
tweed dress coat Miss S via Ebay
long multicoloured doctor who style fine scarf - knitted by me! :)
    black ballet pumps

just working out what bag will work, possibly a grey clutch I have

HB81: might be time to invest in new, brighter cardigan?

I love Bronnies suggestion of a sweater dress is wonderful. Or, you say you don't wear skirts, is this preference or habit? A nice skirt could be very ''librarian chic'' at work, and yet dressed up superbly for a christening. I have a nice grey fishtail skirt I used to find very useful when I had to look smart for work, and could easily be worn suitably for a dat after work too, and indeed a christening. :)

I'd be more tempted to buy something you cn incorporate into your normal wardrobe: its the only really value/cost sensible option.

And yes, I wouldn't wear black either, really. But what colours to wear depends on you!
