Virgin 9months 0% NO FEE

Hi,
I just received a letter from Virgin.
"We've some good news - at the moment, your Virgin Credit Card rate for card purchases is only 0% p.a. until your March 2010 statement date. This rate will only be applied if you make a card purchase before your November 2009 statement date."
Was this part of the deal - if so, can I make a small purchase?
Cheers
Alun
Virgin have a positive payment allocation during promotions(details here), so if you make a purchase your minimum payments will be allocated against that first.
So long as the payments will clear the small purchase before the promotion date ends you should be okay.
If in doubt, phone their CS to confirm, but looks okay to me depending how small your purchase is"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
I changed the bill date to the day before it is usually produced, and was told that my next bill will be created on the day before it would have normally been produced anyway. Have I hashed this up???0

So I got my virgin statement this morning and guess what? Yes, they charged my 3% on a BT that was inside the 60 days fee free period.
I rang and spoke to a couple of customer service people and they tell me that not only was I charged a fee but that I was advised at the time of the transfer and also that I agreed to it!! I wouldnt normally get that upset about £20 but the fact is that I confirmed with the guy taking the details that it was fee free! Never was any fee mentioned. Also, It seems that this bt is on a completely different deal to the one I signed up for. So far, all they can say is "payback the money and we'll refund the fee" which is fine but I'm rattled by the sheer underhanded-ness (if thats a word) of it all. They've asked a manager to call me back although it looks like i'll have to wait 48 hours for the privilege. I bet he'll stick to the same story.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do next?
Thanks guys0 -

It may be worth asking them to play back the tape as "all calls are recorded"?
