Have to say (and yep I'm awaiting the fallout) that I agree. I have never seen the harm in the occasional smoke and to be honest as you say as long as it isn't something you start to rely on it can be controlled.

Kids will experiment, and pot smoking tends to be one of those things. They usually grow out of it.

Then I guess you're lucky enough to not have had a 17 yo friend who developed schizophrenia after smoking canabis and ended his life by throwing himself off a tower block, after the electric shock treatment.

It's disgusting the way canabis has become so acceptable to todays kids and I sincerely hope none of my children think it's OK to indulge and that there are no consequences. I'll certainly be telling them the story of poor Nigel who had his whole life before him if I think they are smoking it.

Peachy - I think those incidents are pretty rare. No I don't smoke it, never have and never want to. I have plenty fo friends who do and have done so for years.
I personally don't think it's much worse if at all worse than alcohol - a few "weed" related deaths a year - THOUSANDS of alcohol related deaths, attacks and injuries...

That said - so long as it's illigal by law then I think it's daft to do it... Should it become legal I still wouldn't touch it... loosing a family member to drugs will do that to you :)

It may be relatively rare compared to alcohol related illness, although 'a few' is a gross mis-underestimate, it's more like 1500, but is still a very real risk that so many youngsters don't realise is even there as it's not cool to acknowledge just how dangerous canabis is.

Long term heavy use can be dangerous on the brain, but i know alot of people who smoke it, some just now and again, even people who you would never imagine like my MIL!!! *shocking*
But it has come to be quite acceptable and not a big deal, although personally i dont like the stuff.
I am on facebook and have seen some truly shocking pics and statuses, only today i found out someones marriage had broken up due to hubby being in contact with an old school friend and running off with her.

*must delete fb before my life gets ruined* :D
