as well as pestering me about booking a weekend away in the spring "to give us something to look forward to"
My daughter has just booked a long weekend away for her, her baby and me in the spring (April) as a thank-you for various things.
The point is, we've booked two nights in North Yorkshire for £12 a night at a Travelodge. We're taking a travel cot for baby and we'll share a double or twin room and we'll eat whatever's cheap and cheerful - calories be damned just for a couple of days, lol.
I'm already looking forward to it and you really can't get cheaper for 2 nights for 3 (well, 2½) peopleI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I was in my local Tesco yesterday about 1 hour before closing time. They were selling very short dated food stock for just 1p or 2p! They tell me they do this every day just before closing time.
You could also try raiding the rubbish bins at shops at night - you could find more than food - some items may even be saleable!
When you are walking along the street look on the ground for dropped money - I often find pennies as I have to watch where I am walking because I am disabled.
When passing a phone box, check for any money in the tray.
If you see a phone card lying on the ground never assume it is a used one!0 -

Ice tea is a really nice drink and its really cheap. Boil about 500 mls of water, pour in a jug, add tea bag, let it hackle, add sugar to taste, add 500 mls of cold water, chuck in fridge or other cool place. 1 hr later Ice teaThe World come on.....0

Hiya,
I'm really glad to hear you got a sewing machine and that it's working well, but mostly I'm very pleased to hear that you are enjoying it and feeling better about yourself through your sewing.
That is so important to find something you actually enjoy and feel distracted by and in turn makes you feel more confident.
I have 3 lengths of fabric that I bought a while ago and predictably never did anything with and I am not going to ever get round to using them now so if you'd like them you're extremely welcome to them - just send me your address.
Perhaps you could even devise a cunning plan and make something that you could sell on ebay or to colleagues - just to boost you and your situation a little bit more.0
