Limits or tesco on Cosmos and Virgin, don't panic buy

silly question - but can I just confirm that you can only use your Tescos vouchers on the brochure price for holidays? Thanks folks!0

Go to P&O www.pocruises.com and price up the cruise you like, when it gives you price just add the discount back on.
I have paid cash for my cruise next year £1900 in an outside cabin 2 adults and 1 child for 7 nights. Without discount it would be around £2100. But cheaper if we had an inside cabin about £1700 without discount.
Hubby and I aren't big drinkers so should be very little extras to pay, we will look around the ports ourselves - I love planning. In MSE style I am planning to order baguettes with the onboard room service (free) and take them ashore for lunch on our days out lol.0 -

Yes, thats it..unless you are extremely lucky, and depending who it is, you also have to pay taxes, supplements in cash...Couponing....."every little hurts"

Just thought I would post the experience I had today trying to book a holiday with Cosmos using £500 of vouchers converted from Tesco ClubCard Points.
Being a frequenter of this site, I decided to check out the options before calling them up.
Holiday and Room booked directly separately £1381
Holiday and room booked via Cosmos WWW £1616
I called their booking line and if you have vouchers, you have to press the keypad to be directed to a [STRIKE]rip off merchant[/STRIKE] agent.
Holiday and room quote £2470
Holiday and room booked with vouchers £1970
It is pretty obvious that they are deliberately inflating the price of the holidays prior to allowing the vouchers to be used. You would need £854 of vouchers to make this booking worthwhile and I can save another £200 by booking elsewhere anyway so unless you have the full amount of vouchers possible (£1200 in this case), you won't be saving much at all.
Do your homework before using these vouchers!

I agree - I paid around £2500 for a holiday last year with about £1500 made up of vouchers.
By booking direct from the website, I could have got the holiday for around £1300. A total waste of my vouchers:mad:There will always be:
A “LIE” in BELIEVE, an “OVER” in LOVER, an “END” in FRIEND, an “US” in TRUST , and an “IF” in LIFE0 -
But don't you have to tip big time on cruises? (Probably whether or not you use room service), so its not really free.
We have got a cabin credit of £50 which will cover all restaurant and cabin steward tips. For room service I would probably tip £1 or euro - still cheaper than buying lunch out for 3. Or if not wanting to tip at all there will be plenty of food to bring back to cabin from the 24 hour buffet restaurant - no tipping there lol.0 -
There is another way. Use your vouchers with Virgin or Cosmos to get your flight and the cheapest most basic accomodation and then choose accomdation of your choice from Expedia. You can then benefit from the free or reduced prices kids places as these are much cheaper than the cost of flights on their website in certain circumstances (ie. flight £349 but kids price in borchure was £249).
As an example, last year we looked at staying in Pop Century 2 adults, 2 kids. If we had booked via Virgin website, with flights, transfers to and from the airport and accomodation, it was coming our at around £4,000 - however, would could book the flights for £1300 directly on Virgin website and the accomodation on Expedia (who were offering free days) came with free Disney Magical Express which takes you to and from the airport for £840 (and we would have got cashback via Quidco!!)
We figured we could get flights and the most basic accomodation to be able to use our vouchers and then pay for the accomodation as it was cheaper.
We are now waiting for an opening date for HP world at Universal before we book to go anywhere but ensure you check out the options to book it elsewhere before you part with your vouchers. If like us you only have vouchers worth £2,000 we would have had to add another £2,000. Yet we could have kept all our vouchers and booked the flight and accomodation we wanted for £2200.0 -

Totally agree that usng less than 50% deals is possibly a waste of time.
If however you had had the £2500 and they came free(not bought like many do) then it would have been an excellent(although overpriced) free holiday...which now looks to be a thing of the past...unless you can find some for less than £700 per person...
I went to look at Youth Hostels today lol...........they want £100 a night for two.......I remember when they were less than £1 a night....Couponing....."every little hurts"

Tesco vouches for booking holidays with Cosmos
I agree with this and the holidays do not appear to be good value when you can book cheaper and pay in full - just had a quote for holiday from brochure £1713
When said using Tesco vouchers the same holiday was then £2130. I feel that customers are being misled and are being taken advantage of.
It is so frustrating after saving vouchers for a specific purpose to find they cannot be used for the intended purpose.
Have looked at Airmiles and a similar situation with inflated prices.
Also hotel breaks that previously could be booked anytime are now restricted to weekend bookings with once again inflated prices.0
