Oh no!
I have just added it up, and it looks like I have spent £100 this week. It does cover everything that has been brought, but it's a bit disheartening.
On the positive, the money spent today will cover us for next week, so there is very little chance of me spending money next week.
Thinking OS, the veggies hubby got earlier in the week, they were not brilliant quality, so the leeks I just sliced and froze, along with the peppers and they'll be fine in a curry or roasted
Thanks for hanging in here with me folks!

Hmmmm,
I thought I was being good today, I planted the rest of my veggies that need to go in the garden and then realised that I hadn't got any tomato seeds.
So I wondered off to the garden centre - I spent:
£1.95 on tomato plants (3 of)
£3.88 on Grow bags (2 of)
£4.00 on a watering can (because of the hose ban)
£3.00 on compost for an azelea that I was given.
I know it's not exactly DFW, but I always grow Toms and I use them to make my own sauces etc, so I will reap the benefits.

Some times you have to spend money to save money.
I mean I buy veggie seeds at wilkinsons when they go to half or even 75% off. Means I get loads of seeds and means I will get cheap veg the next year.
If you have space and eat lettuces get some mixed salad leaves and it means you can go and pick your tea from the garden. yummy. As you just pick the leaves off as you need them rather then harvest the whole lettuce.
It is all baby steps.

Wilkos is good for future reference, bags of compost were 75p last week when we bought some. Also Aldi / Netto for seeds are the cheapest Ive found xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...

Hi GW
Expanding on Lynz's post, changing where you buy stuff really can make a big difference to how much stuff costs. The garden centre vs. Wilko is a good one.
I never realised Wilko's did such a range of stuff and their prices are so much cheaper (in the main).
Shop around using either the online cost comparer (can't remember the site now!) or walk around the various shops - you maybe surprised at the price differences, plus you'll remember them too!! (I hardly ever buy any toiletries in the supermarket these days due to cost!)
Markets for fruit/veg (or home grown), Savers, Wilkos, Primark, Matalan - to name a few.
Well done on your MSE ways so far - it is those small steps that will turn into great strides as times goes on.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Thanks for the support.
I used to have an allotment.
The allotment shop (members only) do seeds at discount prices too. I used to use them, and to be honest I am still using up my seed supplies for this year.
I also joined an EF group, so they gave me free organic seeds too
I have growing:
Garlic (nearly done)
Potatoes (two varieties)
Red onions
1 single leek (poor thing!)
3 tomatoes
loads of beetroot
spinach
lettuce
Rocket
sweetcorn
runner beans
brocolli
Brussels
I also have some unsuccessful peas and a few whispy carrots
I tended to buy seeds when I saw them cheap, and then find I have loads in the shed. But I will make a list of the seeds I need ready for next year. Does anyone know when wilco sell them cheaper?
Thanks

Morning!
Wow! That's excellent. I haven't started on home growing yet, but its on my to do list!
Mmmm...runner beans! My favourite veg!! (Parents grow these, so I have a good supply!)
Sorry can't help with seed costs, hopefully someone will be along with some info! Might be worth looking up the freebie or OS boards too for them.Back on the DFW Wagon:

The OS would know better really about when stuff gets cheaper. the other thing to say id most of the planting time for many seeds is may at the latest, so IM guessing that come mid-may some might be reduced to clear then
We are also sprouting our own mung beans for beansprouts which works out cheaper & fresher ( just need a big jar and an old tight, and a bag of mungs, mine cost about 60p I think and we will get at least 10 batches out of it) If your into the sprouting idea there a massive thread on the OS board near the top few pages "sprouting seeds to eat" packed with info.
LIke I say one of them I think it was Aldi, we got a pack of red sunflower seeds, fopgloves & some colourful daisy packs for about 20p a go. Havent started the foxgloves yet but the others are going in the garden today.
EDIT to say, if you have more veg than you can eat, dont forget to blanche & freeze what you can. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I would say the end of may start of june time. It is just a case of going in and see it for me.
But I am sure that someone on the shopping boards will post once they are starting to reduced to clear them.
