Thank goodness for English Bank Holidays. My assignment would never have got there today (obviously) so it gave me the chance to send it today!

It is far too wet to do anything with our paths and driveway so that can get added to this week's list. I will get onto making that up today.

I have some extra money this month so I am trying to work out if any of it can go onto the mortgage.

I don't normally budget, I just make sure I don't spend more than I get paid, although holidays are usually the exception to the rule. For the first time ever I have set a budget that is quite strict. I have worked out all the bills for the month ( I do this anyway), money I owed OH, money that is being set aside for car, new windows etc. We put money into our joint account each month for food so I know what it leaves me. I am trying to see how I go on £5 a day, every time I have money that I don't spend in a day I am putting it to one side and then I will use for treating myself at the end of the month on clothes etc. Fingers crossed that I have not been too strict!

Not quite sure your meaning; is it:
    1) Insufficient money to manage, or,
    2) Insufficient to give a surplus for clothing?

Either way, I do hope you'll have a clothing budget otherwise you could run into a few problems in 6 months time?

Hope your figures all start to work out for you and allow you to create an annual accurate budget too.

I am not budgetting due to a lack of money, I am just doing it to see how much extra I spend on an average day. It should then flag up how much extra money I have each month.

I do have money left than can be spent on clothing but I am seeing if it works this other way. I am not likely to spend the £5 a day so I will have plenty left anyway. This is all just a trial to see what happens, I will not be doing anything with left over money until the end of the month.

I have managed to get my mortgage total down by £250.01 in the last month. It is very depressing, my mortgage monthly payment is £260.24 and I overpaid my £60 last month. I was hoping that by overpaying I was going to slowly make the amount equal. How long does it take with overpayments to really make a difference to the amount I pay/interest etc?

He loves being a teacher. Got a good rapport with some of the kids, a favourite class and one absolute terror but they are the perks of his job :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

HOD is better with him but not giving him many opportunities, we think he must feel really threatened.

Thanks for the support on the mortgage front. Meeting OH in town later so I am going to pop into the bank to check where my OPs are going.
