Ok so I have put the info I have into the mortgage section of the spreadsheet, do I need to put interest rates in? Is there a way I can put what they require me to pay and what I actually pay to really be able to see the difference? Sorry if it is glaringly obvious on there, I am trying to take everything in too quickly I think.MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

My biggest money save starts on Friday :j For the last year I have lived and worked nearly 500 miles away from home and I dread to think how much I have spent on flights, even though they were subsidised from work. I am looking forward to being back in my home with OH :jMFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

I am looking at our energy use to see if I can save any money there (although I think at this time of year we are ok). What is the average use of gas and electricity for most of you on a daily basis?MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Hi ajmoney
I'm averaging ~4.5kwh for leecy for a 3 bed mid terrace with 2 adults
~2.5kwh for gas with gas CH (obviously not at the mo), cooking and hot water via a combi boiler
I would consider myself pretty [STRIKE]serious [/STRIKE] obsesive when it comes to energy usage btw

Ok our averages are pretty high it would seem by comparison in a rather draught filled old house - we are in the process of doing it up though so for instance the fire place doesn't have a fire but a hole instead where one will be put. And the are a few holes in the walls etc....
Electricity 8 kwh - OH is home a lot and we've used the computers lots and electrical diy equipment etc!
Gas 58 kwh (!!!!!!) Although I do know why this is. I'm asthmatic and was ill for a while and heating was on constant because I was constantly cold. Then OH was the same. Last month it was 4 kwh though!!
Those are obviously averages for the year! Hopefully they'll be lower this year...well gas anyway - I'd be surprised if the electricity was.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Ours is kind of draught filled too but we already have more floor coverings down since last year and we are hoping to have something on every floor by the time the cold weather really gets going.MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Can anyone recommend websites to sell my clothes on? I have loads that haven't really been worn and I think it is time to get rid of them!MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Well, the idea of my reducing my mortgage has been to enable us to have a bigger deposit to put on our next house, not to pay off our mortgage. I am quite glad of this because I definately won't be paying any huge chunks off any time soon. We have just ordered double glazing but I have already justified it in my money saving head so it is fine :T
It now means
1) We will save money on our heating bills
2) We can ask for the highest amount possible when we sell the house as everything that can be done will have been done since we moved in
3) No one can ask us to drop the price to replace the windows.
It will help us in the long run and the company we have gone with have got a pay nothing deal for a year and then if they are still doing the 16 month balance transfer deals with Virgin then we can offset paying it for longer. I have already worked out what we need to put away a month for the next 28 months and it is bearable!MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Still getting our data together since last year when we changed supplier so don't have a full year yet until late October or so.
Current estimates (our own) since last Oct are:
Gas 35.49kWh (water heating, gas hob and central heating when on)
Electricity Day rate 12.25kWh
Electricity Night rate 2.76kWh
Annual rate previously:
Gas 14229kWh pa
Electricity 5222kWh pa
This is for a detached 4-bed, occupied 4 1/2 days per week day time, 7 days a week evenings with two adults and one 11yr old daughter, but the above daily consumption was distorted by illness of both my OH and me this Spring. Also had impact when meters were changed and night rate for electricity changed from 0230-0930hrs to 0000-0700hrs (must get wife and daughter up earlier and through the electric shower!)0
