If I have a bit of extra cash at the end of the month am I better making a payment on my mortgage straight away or should I wait until the first of the month?

I have hit a brick wall. I have managed 342 words tonight which is not where I wanted to be. I need to do about the same tomorrow and then I can post it off on Friday to arrive on the lecturers doormat for Monday's deadline.

At my brick wall yesterday I had about 350 words left to write. I have forced myself to sit down and work because I want to go to the hospital with OH. I have done another 150ish words with 175 to get me to my lower word count.

I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this I can do this

I need to so I can post it tomorrow. I haven't achieved anything from my to-do list and I really want to cross those off so I can start a new one for next week and September.

I hope you found some inspiration in the summary and conclusions to increase the word count?

Odd to have a target, in the reports I review for clients we focus upon the clarity and accuracy not the number of words, but in education they seem to like this as a lever to get students to generate sufficient information....

    Good luck

Hi AJ you don't seem to have received a reply about the extra money. Check your terms and conditions on your mortgage as I suspect every mortgage is different. With mine lump sum payments of £1000 start to lower the interest from the day they are received. Smaller payments take effect on the first day of the following month. Hence in my case it is always best to make the payment on the last day of the month unless the amount is over £1000. Hope this helps, but I suspect yours may be different.

I have been a bit naughty and not quite finished my essay to send off. However seeing as you guys have a bank holiday this weekend he wouldn't have received it on Monday so I have taken the liberty of allowing myself to finish it this morning and sending it for Tuesday morning. OH is going to read through to make sure it makes sense to someone else and then it is going!

Hopefully then I can work on finishing the rest of this week's list:

    1) Finish assignment
    2) Send assignment
    3) Try and cut grass if the weather is fine
    4) Put weedkiller on the paths and driveway
