In order to put this whole issue to bed someone suggested a vote on the Daily or Weekly thread.
So since no one has done one I thought I'd have a stab (my first time so please be gentle with me if it doesn't work out right ;))

There are two options. Vote for either a Daily or Weekly thread. I haven't supplied an option for "no thread" as I doubt the ladies and gent are going to stop posting any time soon ;) I also haven't supplied an option for "not bothered" because now is not the time for ambiguity :D

So can I entice all you lurkers out there to vote on the subject. It has been suggested a great deal that many oppose the daily thread, this is your chance to make your choice known.

And to the contributors of the "Fashion" thread if the majority votes for a Weekly thread will you abide by majority rule?

Edited to add:
Poll will self destruct on the stroke of midnight on Sunday ;)(sorry that's the Mission Impossible in me :rotfl:)

Hi Bitsy

Understand and appreciate what you're doing in the spirit of compromise and harmony, however any thread is important to those who post on it and those who read it and enjoy it.

To make a decision about a thread, based on the opinions of people who may not do any of those things, doesn't seem quite logical to me and is an infringement of members' privilege to post freely on this site, as long as they abide by the MSE rules.

That's my view, anyway hunni!

I am not suggesting the thread stop but since its appearance as a daily one is causing so much aggro (which I feel puts people off posting) why not ask the collective how they feel about it. We've only heard from a tiny proportion of those that read or lurk on H,B &F I wanted to give those not as gobby as myself the chance to quietly make their preference known without wading into the bigger debate.
I am not a fan of merged threads in many cases, I find long ones unwieldy, hard to follow and can put off new posters joining in (case in point would be the Flylady thread on OS). But you only have to look at previous posts and how some regulars no longer contribute. I think that's a shame and if having a weekly thread encourages them to return then I think that is for the best.

Hi Bitsy

Thanks for doing this.

Each suggestion has its merits....... a daily thread would be better but I've seen how grammargirls thread has degenerated into near warfare. Bronnie has her point too, it is a tiny minority that have forced this conflict, its a shame that 2 people who have said they have no interest whatsoever in fashion are posting on the daily thread and disrupting it! YES THEY ARE with their slights and downright nastiness to the fashion posters and driving people who would like to post but now are feel that it isnt worth the hassle.

What started out as a brilliant idea and a fun one too is now like having a pair of spoilt children throwing their dummies out of their prams because they cant get their own way.

I've thought about it and feel that the only way forward is to have a weekly thread and post in it each day what we are wearing or what bargains we've found in the way of clothes. Yes lets have the chat too, its interesting and fun, I love to hear what you are all getting up to and my view is that if we just post and say "hi I'm wearing today
" is going to be downright boring and that will drive posters away. I like having a little chat, its not doing any harm at all

Its a shame that the 2 people that have no interest whatsoever in the thread have been allowed to turn this subject into a full blazed row. Perhaps they dont have anything better to do with their lives...... perhaps they just love creating conflict......... perhaps they are trolls...... perhaps they are one and the same I dont know...... so many things running through my brain. All I do know is that they are distruptive and contribute nothing at all!!

Ok have said my bit and my view is lets try the weekly but post every day, if the 2 people try and sabotage, we can all email the mods or board owners and let them take it from there.

(I promised [myself] that I wouldn't do this)

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong - and wrong again.

You don't seriously expect me not to respond? Can't speak for ab.

Please - carry on with your poll. I won't disrupt it - nor will I vote.

I am off to reclaim the day of my life that I won't get back.

Just realised I'd not voted!
Have gone for Weekly in the hope that it cuts the !!!! that's been going on and allows for more people to return to posting (but praying it won't get too cumbersome and therefore put people off - double edged sword this ;))
My only wish is that a little bit of harmony can return to this board and we can rub along a little better together.

Please vote. I don't wish this poll to disintergrate another cat fight not to mention it took me sodding ages to work out how to do it ;)

As there are only two choices out of the three options I have voted but would have voted for the option that isn't present ie a normal long thread.
Flames in the Garden of Eden
Heaven in pieces at my feet
I faced the raging ruins
Of a million sleepless nights
I need to rest my weary head

Yes, why not have one long thread? That's what they do on another board I post on.

Alternatively you could just ignore the people you consider to be disruptive. What is the point in arguing with them?

I can't amend the poll it won't let me.
I didn't offer option of one long thread as to be honest the idea of a weekly one was mentioned several times so I thought that was a suitable compromise.
TBH I loathe the long single threads. I find them offputting and cumbersome.

As for ignoring the people being disruptive one could say that if we (as in both sides to this discussion) ignored the things we dislike then there wouldn't be a need for this poll in the first place. I am trying in the interests of harmony and acting like a grown up find a middle ground for us all.
