I'm a bit confused as to why you're the one sorting out accounts for your children. If they're capable of going to university, surely they're capable of organising their own bank accounts?

This is completely beside the point and no help at all - the article is out of date and A Level results are 10 days away, I'm wondering too why it hasn't been updated yet because its so soon to the start of term.

On a side note, Santander are offering a £1000 interest free overdraft in the first year, provided you deposit £500 in the account to begin with. Has anyone got any feedback on this?

Id like some more info too. I start college in 2 weeks and the halifax have said that my HND is an eligible course for a student loan but when i look at other accounts they all say i need an unconditional UCAS form which i dont have as im going to college.

I bank with natwest and most customers who bank with a bank can apply now but if you want to apply to a new bank you have to wait till a particular date.

  • I'm going into the final year of my undergraduate degree and want to switch bank accounts. I tried natwest as I've heard good things from my friends but I was denied because one of their conditions is you must have 2 years left of being a student! Can't believe it!

Mine had no problems with it last year, but he did have to request it - it wasn't there automatically.
