Do you/would you tell dog owners to pick 'it' up?

I pick up at least one per walk for each of my dog, I also pick up any any I see on the footpaths, to make up for the ones I can't find because they are so well disguised by the fallen leaves in the Autumn.

There are a couple of dog walkers in my park who have mobility issues severe enough not to be able to pick up their dog's mess, I convince myself that all of the ones on the path must belong to those dogs.

One tip .. always check your carrier bag hasn't any holes in it before you use it ... the times I got caught out with that!!!

Both of my dogs seem to delight in seeking out brambles to poo on top of, so if the bag didn't have a hole in it before I started, it does by the time I've finished.

Whereas I completely agree with you all, I think that there are bigger issues. I'd rather dodge ten dog dumps than one cigarette end.

Id rather stand on a cig end than stand in dog mess atleast they don't stick to your shoes and smell rancid.

People not picking up really annoys me:mad: If I see someone leaving it I will say something but try not to be too confrontational, If I see them start to walk away I usually say something like "Oh they always do it when you have forgotten your bags dont they, here have one of mine" No one has refused yet:rotfl:

I always take a handful with me as my dog is one of those that will poo, wait for you to pick up and tie the bag then squeeze a bit more out:rolleyes:

    !

You should only make that mistake once :D. We use the bags you get fruit and veg in at the supermarket, it makes me feel better about not being so green.

I would never defend anyone who doesn't pick up (as it is not difficult) but it does irritate me that there are not enough bins by our walking areas so you have to carry the full bags home. Its no hassle but I wonder whether it puts some people off picking up. There is one on my walk but says no dog mess  and I can see people using that as an excuse not to bother picking up.

Years ago, I was walking back to my then home with my DS in a pushchair and saw a dog doing its business in my front garden with the owner walking away. I shouted over to her (I was quite some way way) and she did come back and pick it up. If I hadn't been within the vicinity though she would have gone and left it no doubt for me to clean up.

Would I do it again - no doubts, course I would. I have only had to do it on one occasion since then and it was my son's friend who was out walking his dog and left the dog siht on the grass - I gave him a bag to pick it up with but again if I'd not been there, he would also have walked off leaving it for someone else to clean up.

Just to add - I can't bear it when I see people walking along with their bags of siht swinging it to and fro - aaaaaaargh

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

The last person I asked to pick up the mess ( I asked him if he needed a bag then shoved the bag in his hand) waited till I'd gone then walked off leaving it on the pavement - still there when I walked past an hour later. If I'd known where he lived I'd have reported him to the council enforcement officer.

You can also phone the council and ask for extra bins. I asked for one at the end of my road, and they said it was on the list to be done at some point, but as I'd made a request they'd get one put in straight away. I'm not used to the council being that helpful.:rotfl:
