July 2011 Brides

Hi! Just found this thread by accident but thought I'd join if nobody minds?!
I'm getting married on Sat 30th July- 27 weeks, 5 days. Today we've moved the wedding forward half an hour- decided that the evening reception wouldn't be able to start until 8/8.30pm and we want more party time for our guests! There's also been another booking at the church after ours, despite the vicar telling us they only do one wedding a day!
My dress is bought- in the sale at £380Dune Shoes £40 sale
3 Bridesmaids sorted- £69.99- short pistachio coloured, shoes for them £28 (x2), £2.80 x1 (long story!), pashminetta £10 (still on Debenhams sale site)
Biggest hassle so far has come in the past few days- hair and make up. My usual salon seem unwilling to accommodate my three bridesmaids and I- although 3 weeks ago it seemed fine. There's a woman who keeps butting in to the prep and she did it again on Saturday. I was so upset, I left really cross and could have cried. I only went to talk about make-up possibilities. Anyway,I've been gutsy and ditched them. I don't want to turn up on my wedding day somewhere I'm not really wanted! I've found an old school friend who has her own salon and is willing to travel to me. I've not seen her for 15 years but strangely I trust her completely! My make up will now be done at the local Clarins salon (based in the beauty part of my local health and leaisure club) Phew. Hopefully will turn out fine!!
Anyway, hopefully my next visit to this thread won't be by accident! Happy planning everyone! xx0 -
Welcome TC1978 I am new here too. Your costs have made me feel even worse now about mine (well my dress).
Arranged an appointment to meet the vicar today for mid February.
We were hoping to be able have chinese lanterns at our venue but because of problems with the locals they are not allowing it. We want to do something different in the evening (not bothered about a disco) and this hasn't helped. We have friends who are in a folk band but one of them is getting married the same day as us so they can't perform. We are waiting to see if she can recommend anyone.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Eek, it'll be here before we know it! Hope the dresses and swatches arrive soon s_w and are what you wanted.
Sorted flowers yesterday, the price is quite close to what I had in mind which is good, and I can get my favourite ever flowers, craspedia, which it amazing news as I had no idea we could get them in the UK! This means our lemon and lime theme is well on track!
Good luck with the plans everyone!0 -
Hi everyone,
I got out my invitations yesterday,I bought 5 cards in the end, as I didn't like what I made.
We are also going to give notice on friday.
Just in the midst of sorting out a hen weekend!
Apart from that, nothing really to report from here.0 -

well hello date twin! Im 2nd July in essex :j
I had a bit of a wobble last night, plonked myself on oh with my bottom lip out and had a bit of a "but what if its rubbish" weep!
i think i was a little overwhelmed by how much there is to do and how we have literally no money to do it
i think i need a check list to tick stuff off to reassure myself ive got lots done really...
I did more work on our wedding path website, filling it with information
i did an A - Z for everyone and added some more things to my honeyfund gift list so i felt a bit better after that0 -
its weird i am starting to feel 'oh sh*t its 6 months on sunday'- but i know i am organised and got most things- or know what i need to get. i think it may just be me freaking out coz im feeling a bit grown up lol!Is a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

Amymo What are you getting flowers wise and how much is it costing? We have got an appointment to find out what we might like and prices tomorrow night and it would good to have a vague idea of cost before we go.
Just a bit of a survey, what is everyone doing on the evening and the inbetween bit? All the ideas we wanted to do can't be done and it might be good to have some suggestions to cheer OH up a bit when he comes in later.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Flowers, now I know I could do this cheaper but flowers are my one big love, I can however offer you a tip, she said that she likes our colour scheme (lemon and lime) and knows I am desperate for craspedia and pom pom crysanths, because I'm not fussy about the rest and just want green and white for the filler flowers and some general greenery she can choose cheaper white and green flowers that fit colour-wise, this means I'm paying:
Bouquet £65
BM bouquet £30
Table decs (low arrangement with hired vase and floating candles) £20 - 25 each
Bouts £7.50
Corsages £12.50 (going for something a bit different, roses would be cheaper)
Need to think about other decs
Church, lovely ladies are helping me by arranging some crysanths and craspedia to fit the scheme, woth other general white flowers0 -
Thanks Amymo it gives me an idea. Our venue are providing flowers for our tables as part of our package and will be on the ceremony table (we are having everything in the one place) but we can add more to that if we want. I think we are looking at flowers for my bouquet, BM posy/bouquet x 2 and buttonholes if we have them which we haven't decided on yet. Depending on cost we may get something separate for the ceremony table. We don't really have a colour theme as such at the moment, the bridesmaids are wearing pale pink but we want the thistle as our theme and that is more important to us. Maybe these can be linked, we will find out tomorrow evening.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
