I'm getting married on the 23 July '11, at warwick resgistery office, we are having a very small wedding, only 10 guests and 7 children, (2 being my own), then we are going to warwick castle for a picnic, then to pizza express for tea, and back to the hotel for a bit of singstar!
Just trying to loose some weight before I go and buy a dress ( eating mars bars won't help the process, but it tasted so good!)
I hope everybodies planning is going smoothly and as planned.

Eeh, have finally found a pic of my dress online, it's as lovely as I remembered! Went to get the Mr's outfit hire sorted today, he was non-commital but I thought he looked so handsome that I weeped a little weep and he later admitted he liked it, he just was uncomfortable trying it on in the shop! Six months tomorrow for us!

There seems to be quite afew of us getting married on the 23 July.
I made a start on the invitation, the whole 5 of them I have to make, the printers not working so I might have to write them by hand.
I have been looking for a dress too, not really a wedding dress, just something a bit fancy for the day. at this rate it might be jeans and a t-shirt! lol
One of the guest coming to the wedding, her husband does fantastic photo, so he is doing the photo's for the wedding.
Me and a friend have been going to sugar craft classes, so we shall be making the cake, I would like a 2 tier cake, with sugar roses around the middle and the top.
And I'm hoping a friend will do button hole and corsages too, still having a think about a what tyoe of bouquet I would like. I had thought about a bouquet made out of buttons, so at least it will last forever, and its something different.
I'm having more problems with the hen weekend!!!
Oh and we also give notice a week on friday!

Glad it is not just me worried about money. I think as soon as it became THIS YEAR it got scary, whereas in the past when we fell behind with saving we had "plenty of time" to sort it all out. But like another said, it is only 7 pay days! I am reluctant to spend as well as it would be good to get some things paid off but I keep thinking what if I give venue £400 for example and then photographer or someone demands payment.....although saving interest rates are not worth it anymore, my instinct is to keep all my money until it is due with each venue/person!!! It would be a nice feeling to have them all sorted, but deposit should be enough for me to be content that they are.

My OH is the same as some others here, everything will be fine, and I am too to an extent. I just keep trying to remember nothing is set in stone - the venue food bill of £1400 keeps looming in my mind and then I have to remind myself that is only IF we invite 100 guests (and no kids for that matter as it is £14 an adult head!) am trying to remember I can stay flexible and the whole point of the day is getting married.

I am very excited. Anyone else think this could be a FT job?? Have got so much sorted today on my day off but I could easily spend the week raising funds on ebay and sorting out wedding stuff.

LegalBlonde, I'm with you, I'm reluctant to start chipping into the money, but getting the rings paid off this week is a (relatively) gentle way to start!

Generally I'm a bit non-committal about the bigger things, like the flowers, car/vintage bus, but will have to take the plunge as it'll be here before we know it! Glad you're excited, I really am too, I can't think of anything quite like it, it literally occupies most of my free time at the moment, in a lovely way though!

    Hi everyone,

    How are we all doing?

Deejane, wedding twin :D I'm making my own cake too. I looked into button bouquets, and also the ones with felt flowers etc too. And then I decided it was a while lot of effort! So I've decided to go for some foam flowers. Someone else had recommended a seller on ebay so I have quite a few of her things in my watching list, lol! Have you tried debenhams etc for your dress? I'm also on a diet before I order my dress, I'm gonna go for one from ebay and hope for the best, lol!

Redredrose - did you decide on DJ or band in the end? I was massively panicking about money and having nightmares about it all. Have done myself a little wedding book now though, putting all my ideas down in there. Have also sorted out one of my major worries too, so have been nightmare free for a few nights now :) My sister also has offered to give us some money for our wedding present early as she knew I was worrying, so thats a massive help, as our contingency fund was nothing before!

Amymo - have we got a picture of your dress? Would love to see it. Thats lovely that you felt like that about your OH in his suit too :) I know exactly what you mean about being non-commital with the 'non-essentials', altho I still really *really* want all my non-essential things! :rotfl:

Sammy - did you get your bridesmaid dresses sorted yet? I ordered my little girls dress but it takes a while to arrive. I just want it here now since I've ordered it tho! :rotfl: I aren't sending invited as such. Small budget, so didn't want to waste any of it. I have just rang all the people invited to the ceremony, and I need to sort an email out with directions for those coming from out of town. And I'm also going to ring and email out of town guests for the evening do soon, as they may need to sort accommodation. Then I figured I'd probably just put a facebook event on for the rest of the evening guests, and ring or text as well.

LegalBlonde - I am so the same with the money! I am so worried about spending money, that all of my things seem to be sat in 'my ebay' or waiting to be booked. I love looking at things for the wedding tho, and checking these boards. So many ideas and lovely things to plan :)

So my big news is, I've changed wedding reception venues!! The old place were really annoying me as they hadn't confirmed anything and the last straw was at the weekend when we went in to see them and they were 'too busy' to come down to see us! My sister had offered to give us some money towards the wedding, as we're on a very small budget, so I went and priced up the pricier option that most people go for round here and it turned out to be the same price, for a hot buffet rather than cold, and also its available on the 23rd! :T They have new owners, and a new pricing structure :D I snapped his hand off, lol!! Its also a much easier place to imagine decorating, and in the 20 minutes I was there, I've already got more information than I had from the old venue that I have spend over 6 weeks tring to organise. Feel sooooo much happier now :j

I've also been and sorted suit hire, and am doing well on my diet too :A Have even joined a gym, so hopefully will be ordering my dress before I know it :)

  • Hi everyone

You all seem to be getting on really well. To be honest I hadn't done anything for ages but then when New Year hit had a bit of a 'oh my god we get married THIS year' type panic. Have had a bit of a blitz in the last couple of days and ordered placecards, bubbles and ribbon from ebay, and we've been and ordered our rings :D

Am currently pinning together yards of bunting and trying to remember whose bright idea it was to make our own....(oh yes, it was mine!)

Amymo - I agree we need a picture of your dress!

I am scared of posting on here as you all seem very organised and far on with your preparations.

We got engaged on New Years Day this year and are getting married on July 9th.

    So far

We have a provisional booking for the venue, we are paying the deposit next week. We are having the whole day and it has beautiful views. It also means we don't have to worry about transport. All the food is done by them too.

We have someone to marry us and I am ringing him back tomorrow to organise meeting him next month.

We have a quote for a photographer but are having a quick shop around.

We know who we are using for our cake and possibly the flowers too.

I started trying on dresses yesterday and the shops have given me until the end of the month for settling on one. I am planning on buying summery dresses for my bridesmaid and flower girl so they can wear them again.

We have seen rings we like and get a discount as OH got the engagement from there.

We just need to look into entertainment and stationery I think. Have I missed anything out?
