Anyone know if a BT to a current acct will work with this one? used to do that yonks ago when I was a real stoozer, but not tried it for ages!

Yes but they will charge you 4% for the priviledge.

Best to use to transfer existing debts or use Egg Money to route the funds to your Current Account without incurring any fees.

i got offered a £7,300 limit. in my application i requested to do a transfer of £5,300 (as that is the limit on my egg card), dont know if its coincidence that they offered me exactly £2k more. anyone know if it will be easy to increase the BT to £7,300 or if i should send another £2k separately?

my egg limit is £5,300, hopefully it wont be a problem to SBT more than that...

PS - kindofagilr, i didnt receive an email either...

  • I didn't tick / check the balance transfer box. No idea at the time whether I would be given a limit then and there or find out 2 weeks later they're offering something pointless like £200.
Wonder if that had something to do with it?

For those of you who are having difficulty applying for another MBNA card, Santander have issued a new card (Santander Zero) for existing Santander group customers (Alliance & Leicester, Abbey). This card offers the same 0% fee, 0% balance transfer, but this one lasts for a whole 12 months rather than the 9 months offered by Virgin.

I don't suppose it's any consolation, but there's no evidence that a BT request made on application has any bearing on the decision.

I'm sure you're right about that.
I do wonder though if acceptance or refusal of
PPI might make a difference. I did consider accepting PPI to encourage them to accept me - with a view to cancelling it as soon as I got the card. However, it seemed a bit complicated so I just refused it.
I understand that basing a credit decision on whether or not someone accepts another financial product is against financial services' regulations - the difficulty is proving it.
  • Didn't tick the PPI box either.
