MSE news: Virgin launches fee-free 0% balance transfer credit card

I applied for this and got a 'we'll need 7-10 days to get back to you' response. How do you think this bodes? I've got an MBNA already with a £2300 balance on a £6300 limit (which is in 0% till November)... Although I have in total around £11k on cards (total limits sum to: 30k or so) and a further 5k in loans...
Salary is pretty decent - around £2.2k take home a month.
Thoughts on acceptence liklihood?
As promised here's my update - just got an email this morning:
Thanks for applying for a Virgin Credit Card, we've received all the information we need to open your account.
You will receive your card, PIN and credit card chequebook within the next 7-10 days.
Please do not attempt to reply to this e-mail as the return e-mail box will not be monitored.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Sarah Williams
Director of Marketing

I hope you will be destroying the cheque book. The govt is trying to stop CC providers sending those out unasked for.
I haven't heard about my application yet. Hope I don't get refused as that might stop me in the future due to searches. I've been accepted by Sainsbury's, M&S (both 0% till Jan/Feb) and AmEx (pay off monthly) this year so I'd be surprised. I just want it to extend the 0% a few more months.0 -
got my PIN today... they are being quick!0

For those still waiting to hear back from Virgin - I have received an email today that the card, PIN etc will be with me in the next 7-10days. I had applied on Monday - lets see what limit I get....A good way to being the weekend0

I applied for the 16 months one just over a week ago. I got a PIN through the post this morning- and they said the card would be with me within 10 days. However, when I applied I was told I'd have a decision in 7-10 days, and I didn't hear anything via email etc- is this unusual? The lack of email I mean- it seems a little odd not to get an acceptance notification.
Scrap that- found it! Anyone know of any offers when you use your new Virgin card at Specsavers?:cool:Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
Had not heard anything since i applied last monday. Rang up today and they just wanted to check my individual income.
I already have a virgin atlantic card with 6k limit that i pay off in full each month. So she reduced that to 2k and gave me 5k on the 0% card.
Well chuffed. Have 3.5k to transfer from another card.
Anyone else who hasn't received anything ring up and enquire!0 -
Thanks CannyJock for all your help on this matter.
Just a quick note to everyone - as this offer was pulled and is a very new product - there are a number of staff at Virgin who are not aware of all its benefits - specifically the 0% handling charge for all balance/money transfers.
If this happens what you need to do is call this number
0800 783 1116
This is a specialised team who deal with special reward schemes and the like. They can see that you have applied via a "money saving comparison site" and can immediately action your transfer at 0% handling fee.
You can transfer up to 95% of your credit limit for up to 60 days from the date of activation of the card.
DO NOT mention that you got the number from this website just say that their telephone response team gave you the number :beer:0 -

How did you find out you don't have all the benefits? Did it say in the T&C when the card arrived? (you know, in the rates table).0 -
Well, I got the same leaflet, indicating that I would have to pay the 2.98% BT fee, but enclosed in the same envelope was another leaflet stating I got a fee free transfer. I clarified this with the Advisor I spoke to when activating my card. He confirmed that it was fee-free, and managed to confirm the balance transfer there and then. I'm just waiting for my other credit card to be cleared off now :-)0
