My sister's even been turned down for call centre work because she doesn't have experience, same with admin stuff.

People have several career changes these days so to tell kids this is there ONLY chance of getting a job by getting high grades is just bonkers.

My kids happiness will always come before grades although that doesnt mean that I am not proud as punch if they do well.

When it gets to this stage, people just ask "How many GCSE's/O levels do you have?"

No one is bothered about grades once you have A-levels/degrees etc. For better or worse, the gift of the gab is far more important.

That's why we're so proud of my sister (and maybe why we're so soft). She didn't have a secondary education, only got dual award science, but managed to get through a levels and a degree. She'd have been written off long ago if there wasn't the second chance at sixth forms etc.

Of course, it's all pointless cos she's graduated in the middle of a recession and can't get a job for love nor money, but that's by the by.

    So did I.

Tell her to take anything - shelf-stacking or whatever she can get.

Once she gets "experience", then things will start to take off. It's getting that initial traction thats hard.

Lots to do, not enough time......

I had better get my skates on hadnt I. Matched bet has paid out so today I will be looking for another freebie.

I have booked in for a financial review at my bank as I am not happy with some of the accounts I hold there also going to apply for the Halifax reward current account where you get £5 a month so long as you pay your salary in. Cant be bad and they are open Sat mornings too.

    List to do today....
    • Flylady bathroom and finish off kitchen from yesterday
    • Hang out washing and iron when dry
    • Go to financial review
    • Pop to Asda for a couple of things, I need some ham, bread and fruit
    • Carry out M Shop
    • Sign up for new Bookmaker offer
    • 6 mile walk
Better get on with it then:rolleyes:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
