    Oh were they bad:(

I say that no matter what the grades are they can always catch up at college. Alot of emphasis is put on results but really sucess is all about attitude in the person when they start their career.

Grades just make the School look good:rolleyes:

That's a brilliant attitude Lou, I fell for the school's line of exam and grade success is the be all and end all and ended up mentally ill and with ME, which has affected my life a hell of a lot more than a few lower grades would have done! I hate parents who push that attitude as well, yours is much healthier.

I teach at 16+ and see kids come in with all sorts of grades and most of the time they mean very little, sometimes the ones with the lowest grade are more willing to work and focused and some of the higher grade students turn out to be little shiits and waste there time at the college.

People have several career changes these days so to tell kids this is there ONLY chance of getting a job by getting high grades is just bonkers.

My kids happiness will always come before grades although that doesnt mean that I am not proud as punch if they do well.

Highers are like A levels aren't they? I'm not surprised that doing 6 means lower grades, the workload must have been horrific!

That's why we're so proud of my sister (and maybe why we're so soft). She didn't have a secondary education, only got dual award science, but managed to get through a levels and a degree. She'd have been written off long ago if there wasn't the second chance at sixth forms etc.

Of course, it's all pointless cos she's graduated in the middle of a recession and can't get a job for love nor money, but that's by the by.

Her qualification will always be with her Ames even if she has to do something different for a while.......

I do feel for students at the minute, locally we have one of the most qualified cluster of call centres in the UK I reckon

DS has been looking for degrees (2 years time) geared towards particular skills shortages from the UK immigration website.

Might as well learn something that the country actually needs I guess but I doubt he will hang around the North East:o
