Tell them that you want then to send a replacement and pick up the faulty item at their expense. If they refuse, tell them that you will do the exchange in person but that you will charge them for you expenses.
Make sure you have proof of what everything that has happened and happens.
If they don't play ball, once you have the replacement invoice them for your travel expenses.
If they refuse to pay, take them to the small claims court. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
80 mile round trip. What's that in petrol? £15? Would you really take a company to the small claims court for £15?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

At the HMRC rate of 45p per mile, 80 miles is £36
Report them to trading standards is the easiest and most sensible solution.
Taking them to the small claims court for the cost of petrol is a ridiculous idea. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You've not answered my question.0

Saying report them to trading standards clearly answers your question.
It's also not relevant. I have never said its acceptable for companies to flout the law. All I've said is its not worth going to the small claims court for such a small amount of money. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
